"The Post Office does not issue International Driving Licences or Permits." Quote from the manager, Upper Street PO, Islington, an hour ago.

What's the most pressing issue with United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust? Closing A&E departments, extended waiting times, children at risk in their wards, staff shortages, running a massive deficit, getting out of special measures? No, nowt like that. A midwife has been sent home because her hair colour doesn't meet their "professional standards" that's what.

Battery Indicators. Lunchtime Sunday. My Coastguard Air Patrol Pager has just alerted me, but no accompanying message, so WTF ? but the cloud base is such that even the seagulls are walking, so not a lot we can do anyway, but I rang HQ to enquire. Not us, they said, maybe it is your battery warning ? Never had that aural warning before, but I investigated, but as I recalled replacing the battery not too long ago - exactly when ? - it didn't seem to me that that would be the case, and the little battery indicator at top right showed a solid black rectangle, i.e. a full charge - or is that a full discharge ? However, the battery measured a full charge in excess of 1.6 V for single cell AA battery, so the pager battery indicator starts fully black and discharges to empty, or fully white. Seems logical, so why does my cellphone show a full white square when fully charged, and discharges to fully black ? WTF can't there be a standard, or do I have to try and remember which gadget does what ?

My electric shaver has no indicator whatsoever, and maintains a constant "noise". Just stops mid-shave when I am rushed for time.

I would have removed the beast with the back of me spade if it had been close enough.

Letter requesting closing of a/c to Barclays two weeks ago not acted upon as took nearly a week to verify my signature. I phoned today. Eight (8) security questions, I was verified, but they cannot act on my letter as They have to call Me to get authorisation. Guess Barclays never heard of modern methods such as a one-off PIN or voice ID.

Any Apple users out there ? Mrs.ExS recently replaced her failed desktop PC with an iMac, the large screen, all built into the one unit thing, worst decision she has made in recent years.

Today, there was a message that the cordless Magic Mouse was getting very low on battery charge, so it was out with the Lightning cable for the first time, and then we discovered that ...........it plugs into the surface base of the mouse, so it prevents the mouse being used whilst it is re-charging ! Should the designer of this disaster be let out on his own ?

Also, can anyone explain how to increase the size of the cursor arrow ? No amount of scrutiny of various mouse menus, system requirements etc. has shown us how to achieve this, so she tries to live with a mouse pointer measuring about 1 mm in length, almost invisible.

Ask Google, for example "iMac change cursor size"
Been in data comm since we formed the bits individually with a Morse key.

Barclays Bank Int. promised to phone me at 09:00 today regarding a request for a transfer that's been waiting for three weeks. Sat with details on hand to verify who I am. Need I say, no call.

If she hasn't found it yet:
System Preferences - Accessibility - Display - then move the Cursor Size slider as required.
Agree about the Mouse 2 Charging Port. Stupid place to put it. The original Apple Mouse just uses 2 AA batteries.

I found my "magic" mouse was eating batteries (the black and bronze ones) faster than certain trades could eat pies so I purchased get some good rechargeable batteries to save money.

'Good" re-chargeable ones being the operative word ? I have played with re-chargeable over the years with mixed success, still have some, but tend to find them discharged when I need them - now ! Keeping track of the charged status of a handful of idle ones is...... well, you know ! The "shelf" charged life doesn't seem to be very long.

My Microsoft Mouse is very easy on the AA's.

Can't remember the name of my mouse (Lenovo ?) but the AA lasts a year without me turning it off.
