All those movements (pro-immigration, black lives matter etc) are providing excellent salaries and living conditions for a lot of people. I still remember the late Cape mentioning how top executives from an organization set-up to help kids in Africa insisted on travelling First or Business even if the ticket was several times higher.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
Remember reading some years ago about two Australian council "Execs" from Victoria (I think) refusing to fly back to Melbourne from L.A. because they didn't have extra large pyjamas in Qantas First Class. The couple went back to their posh hotel for another night until Qantas got the right sized pyjamas for them. Their fit of pique back fired on them because they arrived home to find that they were headline news and the people of Australia wanting to know why they were flying First Class anyway. It was a while ago but that is the gist of the story.

Yes all lives matter hence that specification (Black lives matter) is mainly political.TheGreenGoblin wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 7:37 pmBut surely (don't call me Shirley), African lives matter, like Greeks, the f*cking Turks, even the "English!"Rwy in Sight wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 7:20 pmAll those movements (pro-immigration, black lives matter etc) are providing excellent salaries and living conditions for a lot of people. Re: Rant of the Day v2.
There are some arseholes in this world.
Junior daughter managed to get a booster jab appointment for this morning at a village a few miles from where she lives.
Went out to her car and noticed a flat rear tyre.
On closer inspection she spotted this:
After she got to a tyre repair shop, they pulled out this:
That 4" screw had penetrated some 3" into the tyre and there's absolutely no sign of any scuffing, distortion or abrasions on it. Another neighbour had the same problem today. I don't for one moment believe it was picked up whilst she was driving and that it was just bad luck. Told her to report it to plod as criminal damage.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
Unusual that it was on the inner wall of the tyre - difficult to achieve.

Here's a photo taken as she found it. From the angle of the screw, I don't believe it was possible from that to be picked up from the road. Someone deliberately screwed that in there.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
Nail guns don't fire screws like that.
You say in a village. Some villages experience parking issues and some prats deliberately attack strange cars.
That said, one of our parish councilors has had her tyres done 4 times. Her car is immediately off the High Street and she has a troublesome neighbour. No proof yet.....
Definitely tell the police.

Just a thought - it is EXTREMELY difficult, if not impossible, to drive a screw into an (inflated) tyre manually, especially as shown.

The car was parked right outside her house. Her neighbours have checked their CCTV but it didn't quite cover where her car was parked - buggah!Pontius Navigator wrote: ↑Sun Dec 19, 2021 9:45 pmNail guns don't fire screws like that.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
4ma, could it have been done elsewhere? Good piece of metal like that might have given a good seal with just a slow puncture.
My last car had a screw in the spare tyre when I got it. Never deflated in 5 years.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
I am trying to see if I can use a tablet as the home laptop. So far it has worked. A big issue came up yesterday: I inserted a memory card and while I formatted as a storage card the android tablet operating system doesn't allow for documents to easily stored in the card.I tried to move the documents via a charging cable it doesn't work either.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
This could really go on to the Coronabollocks thread, Leeds United have persuaded the Premier League to postpone their game against Liverpool on Boxing Day due to an outbreak within squad, nothing to do with them being battered 4-1 and 7-0 in their last two matches.
This was going to be my first game in three months and now I’m spending the day with the wife’s family

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
It was very recent. A few days before, daughter had taken that very wheel to the tyre shop because it kept deflating and she thought it was a slow puncture but the tyre was sitting badly on the wheel and after cleaning and re-seating it was fine. If that screw had been there, it would have been spotted at the time.Pontius Navigator wrote: ↑Mon Dec 20, 2021 8:37 am4ma, could it have been done elsewhere? She reported the incident to plod and has had a call from some PCSO asking if she still has the screw - they've had reports of a number of similar incidents.
