After I started working on turbine engines, my wife often complained that I smelt of JetA1, and so to overcome this she washed all my work clothes
with laundry liquid and a fabric conditioner to rid the work wear of the kero smell.

By the way fabric conditioner is not particularly good for ... fabric. Instructions state that it is not to be used for fire protection clothing.

Don't go to Amorgos mid season. They even sleep on the beach but don't get up until about 11.00 as they have been partying all night.

My ex- wife announced that she was going back packing around Australia on my money when we got divorced. Her idea of back packing was a suitcase 5 star hotels and flying.

So why isn't it called "fabric deconditioner"?

TV ads here for fabric conditioner are all about scents, with seemingly magical properties to calm, invigorate, or do whatever the scent is supposed to promote.

Presently making a dovetailed tambour topped box for a competition. Using some beautiful figured huon pine for the carcass. Cutting the dovetail pins, and because of the 'cranky' grain that gives the wood its character, there was a weak spot that popped out. Bummer, but fortunately, repairable. Did the repairs and left it for 24 hours for the glue to cure. Sharpened my chisels and started again. On the next one, exactly the same thing happened, again, repairable. I'll have to work on my technique.

Sounds like a great way to do backpacking, luxury all the way and someone else paying the bills.

Apparently there’s been a major hack of a company that handles payroll for BA, hopefully someone is going to be paying off my overdraft :D
When all else fails, read the instructions.

I live close to Hadrian's Roman Wall, and many visitors come to 'Walk the Wall' with some electing to stay in hotel accommodation with baggage transfer by van between hotels rather than backpacking and B&B or pubs and hostels.
There is a popular Inn called the Twice Brewed located on the line of the Wall Walk.

Just had a notification from the Halifax that they are going to close their branch on the town's high street. Our account is being transferred to the branch in Pikeyville Newark if we wish to do personal banking - that's one journey up the A1 I won't be making on a regular basis.
It's always my fault - SWMBO

I have no desire to indulge in internet banking.
I want to have personal contact with an employee of my bank - that's what they are for . . .

I have no problem with using the machines within the bank (or outside in the foyer) even though I was left over the bank holiday weekend when the machine retained my card - there was water running down the front of the machine and the message stated that they were checking my card - for twenty minutes - the worry was whether my card was going to be ejected for someone else to collect.
Accessing the online 'service' reported that active telephones were only available Monday to Friday during working hours.

I used to feel the same way, not anymore. I use Charlesz Schwabb and do not pay any bank fees--even for ATM withdrawls or foreign cash withdrawls. They are FDIC insured and so no worries about card being stolen and mis-used etc.... I have NEVER had a problem with it.

Are you my brother?? He has never used an ATM, won't do internet banking and still gets cash by writing a cheque and cashing it at his local Barclays Nationwide. Mrs C16 spent her working life in banking and was one of the first female bank managers in Scotland. As she loves to tell me, she was an old style bank manager who knew her customers by name unlike today's staff who are just sales people intent on selling enough to get their bonus. She got out of banking when she managed five branches in Glasgow and just as staff at front of house were pushed to becoming more sales oriented with little knowledge of true banking.

I don't know that my brother has even been in a bank. He's never had a loan in his life - even bought his first house, off the council, for cash.
He's not a financial idiot though. Opened about 20 building society accounts back when they started turning into banks. Moved the same hundred quid or whatever between each of them every month, and took the couple of thousand payoff from each of them as they demutualised.

Bought two USB drives yesterday to store a clients insurance claim I prepared, one for me and one for the client. Plugged in first, lit up, but folder did not open. Spent 90 minutes wondering what I'd done wrong before turning to the second. Perfect. Back to Kingston today, Took the first one back to the gadget store, they couldn't get it to open either. Gave me new one. Buggah.

It's always worth trying to format them before you give up. I do annoying things like format mine to EXT2, which works just fine on Linux machines but not on Windows.
