Registering my tool!

#5141 Post by TheGreenGoblin » Tue Jun 15, 2021 3:17 pm

Has anybody here tried registering their tool and obtaining their 3 year Bosch tool guarantee using that German firms defunct QR code system and appallingly, and purposely complicated and obtuse computer registration system and numbering system! =))

Well I have just encountered and defeated the "schwein" and have registered my tool, namely a BOSCH AHS 550-16, and obtained my guarantee. It took more effort and sheer persistence than it took for Grumman to code the Apollo moon landing computer, I can tell you!

Clarion housing association

#5143 Post by Boac » Wed Jun 16, 2021 6:17 pm

ITV (UK) has just exposed a south London Housing 'Association' - 'Clarion' - one of the largest in the UK - that is running a large block of flats 'due to be demolished' and providing (not cheap) accommodation for disadvantaged families. All residents (apparently) are 'due to be rehoused' by the association (small point that building the new accommodation for the occupants has not yet even been started). Over the years the residents say they have reported serious defects that have gone untreated - we are talking water leaks, mould, rat and mouse infestation and electrical nasties.

Along come an ITV film crew, filming in the flats for 2 weeks and SUDDENLY a lady appears on TV on behalf of Clarion saying she apologises for all the problems and is going to do something about it. They have produced this video

Why does it take this to sort Clarion out? Why cannot a civil case be brought against them for failing to honour their responsibilities. ITV quoted not-insignificant company 'profits' and a senior exec took home £400k last year. Nice work if you can get it. Poor residents.

I would like to see them in court. I'd also like to know who is involved in the company and am employing Goggle for that.

A difficult search. Part of the Clarion Housing Group, registered under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. Prior name change from Affinity Housing Association which (interestingly?) has a connection to a company called Greensill. Huge turnover.

I suspect there are stones that need lifting.

Dealing with courier / shipping companies has been a very bitter part of the Covid experience - fortunately obviously but still annoying.

We had to pay DHL (for Customs) €39 for a present sent from the UK because the sender wrote the value as £100 when handing it in. The DHL says the new tax regime starts in July. Not according to Spain.

My car has two Cup holders. The Cup holders contain 3 bottles of antiseptic hand gel, one of hand cream and 3 packets of tissues with two face masks, hers.

Just emptied a bottle, and asked for the spare, to be informed by SM that she hasn't been able to find any in the shops.

A quick Giggle found the reason. :((
Thank you Ian for explaining our shortage of HP sauce down here. Managed to find a bottle of VIP sauce in Spar which is a good enough substitute. We only use it when making cheese on toast. :D
Its not just HP Sauce!

It all seems to be a spat between the importer and Heinz.

As the article says there are local alternatives to the ketchup that are just as good. But there ain't anything to replace HP!

HP brown sauce is not the same as it used to be.It is lighter in colour and much sweeter.

Ian thank you again for explaining lack of Heinz tomato ketchup; I actually find that Woolies brand is the best substitute. It also explains the lack of Heinz baked beans which IMO can't be replaced or substituted. :(( :((

At one time Heinz Tomato Ketchup and their Baked Beans were 'luxury imports' to SA, and priced accordingly! The beans were about £4.00 a tin, about 40 years ago.

At another time we had Ketchup made in Zimbabwe and priced to compete with the local products.

For what its worth, we use All Gold ketchup and Koo Beans.

Woolies tomato ketchup IMO is nicer than All Gold which is perfectly acceptable. :) Woolies BBQ baked beans or Spar baked beans have the edge on Koo IMO. :) But at the end of the day there is no substitute for Branston Pickle which we have never found here or in Greece. :(( :((

Make it yourself... empty your mind of stress, rant not and feel the creme Zen...

;)))

Creme on, creme off...

Eat with salad, fish, chunky chips and an ice cold glass of Diemersdal wild horseshoe sauvignon blanc...

Thanks but no, TGG.
I have a fridge and cabinets full of condiments, sauces, salsas, etc.
Since it is mostly just for my consumption, kids not in to spicy stuff, with the exception of D#2's taste for green salsa, they are all half full and most probably past their 'best by' date. :-o :(( :))
