We had a manager who was constantly calling us on our mobile phones trying to micromanage us, so one day we all blocked his number :ymdevil:

The one I keep trying to block is the hospital automatic how did we do questionnaire. Do they really think I am going to classify my consultant as dreadful. I might need to see him again.
This "rate us" crap has gone too far. I have just paid my VAT online and HMRC have asked me to rate them... =))

Just learnt today that I could have been having a significant 'Pensioners Discount' off my Rates, for the 6+ years we've lived here.

Knew nowt about it as we didn't have such a thing where we lived in Joburg.

Called cable TV and internet provider last month to complain about the costs. [-X
The customer retention department made adjustments and said the new rate was locked in for a year. :-bd
Paid the new amount and got a new bill for a different (higher) amount. [-X
After several calls, due to bad connections, i was finally able to talk to someone who proceeded to tell me that the new quoted rate was based on a 30 day promotion that was now expired. ~X(
Now on terminal hold.
After about 20 minutes on hold (or in there terms just a sec) find out that they had "forgotten" to bill me for the use of their telephone modem for which I haven't had phone service for four years. Now they want $8./month for its use. ~X(
I will be buying a new modem!

Unfortunately, there is little competition here. ~X(
My only realistic option for internet is a phone company's essentially DSL offering. [-X
The TV portion can be replaced by streaming services. Unfortunately, none of them offer all of the channels I would like in a single package. :-?

The Germans seem very good at this.

Short of individual options, big on 'packages'.

Want leather seats? That comes in the 'S line interior package'!
The S line interior package offers bespoke S line styling elements which add a distinctively sporty look to the interior of the Audi A5.
The S line interior package includes the following equipment:

- Sport seats in front
- Headlining in black
- Accent surfaces painted in gloss black
- Pedals and footrest in stainless steel
- Scuff plates with aluminium inserts, illuminated with S line logo
- Decorative inserts in matte brushed aluminium
- S line logos in the interior

Available only in conjunction with fine nappa leather (at an additional cost)

Just realised that the council meeting was on Wednesday 24th, not 26th (ie today).

Preparing to send my apologies to all before realising that I was actually there (on Zoom).

I blame Covid for destroying all sense of days.

Is it worse to forget to attend a meeting or to forget that you did attend?

A less complicated rant. Pull a plastic bag off the dispenser at the supermarket with the intention of buying some fruit. So how are you supposed to open the bag if you can't wet your finger because you're wearing a mask?
I figured that one out a while back. Over here they often spray water on the produce at regular intervals, at least the veg, less so the fruit, so there's invariably a patch of moisture to be had somewhere on the veg aisle.

I still have a normal BT landline telephone which marks me out as "old" according to one of my younger business colleagues, who pointed out that "only old people have landlines"
I’m having a discussion with SM about getting rid of ours, but obviously she likes talking to Microsoft tech support and all the other scam calls that we get X(
Almost all the calls that come through the landline are scams... yet more proof that the "elderly" are being targeted! ;)))
I use the landline as a scammer magnet. If I have to give a phone number then that's the one I give, and we never bother to answer it anyway, it goes to the answerphone. Mostly the scammers hang up at that point, so if there's a message it's worth listening to. Mostly it's a recorded scam message and we miss the first half of the message because the playback starts almost immediately (probably helped by the fact that I start the outgoing message with "hello<pause>" to catch out the autodiallers.

I believe the ground line is on the MEL for a house. I love the PSTN where there is voice function even when the house might not have electricity because of a local power failure and thanks to the company I use I have unlimited data and unlimited national calls (fixed and mobile) for a reasonable price - although the internet speed is not the best.

Pretty much the same here. I have even disabled the messaging. :-bd

As it happens, apart from not wanting an AUDI, I would not want any of those.

I bought a Toyota with tinted rear windows and black headlining neither is an option and not what I would normally accept except the rest of the package was good. The next one up had wheels that were too big and no other feature that would have persuaded me. But a car that is sheet metal this morning and on its way to the dealer in the evening does not give the manufacturer time to add extras. Even the body style determines the paint colour range.

Same hear except the call limit is 60 minutes then you need to redial or get charged the whole hour. I have to keep an ear out to Mrs PN.

My supplier used to provide mobile too but pulled out but arranged a £5/month special deal with a mobile operator. Masses of minutes but only 750Mb of data which is adequate. Mrs PN had a £5/m package with them too but never used data. We switched hers to PAYG and had a credit of £10 or so over a year ago. She uses data in the house but not roaming and still has £2 credit.
