Re: Rant of the Day v2.
The day he arrived here I put him on my ignore list based on his previous history of posts on TOP. It is lovely without him....provided nobody quotes him. I don't understand why he is not on everyone's ignore list and then he can talk to himself to his heart's content.Capetonian wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2019 7:14 pmI wonder if KnC is ever capable of a response without a puerile attempt at a snide sarcastic remark and putdown.
It was lovely without him.
The helicopter pilots' mantra: If it hasn't gone wrong then it's just about to...

I did the same not long after. Blathering idiot. I couldn't care less whether the communist is capable of a coherent post or not. He's not important enough.
And yes, if possible could posters edit a K&C quote* to exclude the blather if they feel a need to write to this twit? I know quoting is mainly used as an attention-getter from the poster to the postee, but it'll save bandwidth and forward courtesy to others who ignore the moron as well as obtain the dickhead's attention as intended. Thanks. Appreciated.
* The above quote I show as an example although I'm not after Charlie's attention in this instance.

Damnit ! Last day in Spain tomorrow, jobs planned, schedule writ, and today I find a trailer valve leaking so tire must be repaired before I go.
Today Big Sunday Lunch with English, ZA and French and Belgian friends; tomorrow farewell lunch with German friends. And bronze horse arrives from the foundry tomorrow.
Will be a different world when I return. Brexit will be over. Oh, titter ye not !

From time to time, my laptop display switches to portrait.
I now know how to revert to landscape mode (it took me ages to fathom), but it is fiendishly difficult to manipulate the touchpad to navigate the cursor to the appropriate screen.
I have no idea what prompts the switch to portrait mode.

I'd blame Bill Gates.I have no idea what prompts the switch to portrait mode.
( I know, it doesn't answer the question, but maybe makes you feel better ? )

Shopping at Aldi earlier. Saw this tray of meat in cold section. Looked really nice, thought that would be great in a stir fry. It was labelled "Premium Dog Meat". Never know these days, so examined package to see what breed. Ok if a yappy poodle or a doberman, but wouldn't want to scoff a labrador. Asked one of the idiots in an Aldi shirt what breed, and he gave me a dirty look. Really don't understand some people some times.

Marketing Jargon
Slasher opened a thread on 5G - fifth generation. The first time I recall it being applied to phones was 3G with the previous generation being retrospectively 2G.
But we also have 4G and 5G fighter jets. No one called the F80 1G or the F86 2G and the F100/102 3G but now aviation salesmen are heavily into NG etc.
Did the Russians start this with the T34 tank for 1934? The UK had SA80, AS90 and Europe the EFA2000!
Then Microsoft launched year dated software.

Ian, as did many others, my point is that version 3.1 to version 3.2 or whatever doesn't sound very sex. When you have Millennium edition (aka 2000) it is easy peasey to persuade you that 2003 is years better. Interesting though that Microsoft has now separated is OS naming from years to serials again probably to distinguish it from Office marketing.

Re: Rant of the Day v2.
Dropbox stopped working on lap-top and the WiFi printer refuses to co-operate since I changed the router password. I was told that the factory-installed passwords are unsafe. Both very annoying since I like to use the dropbox to move files around and I bought thw Wifi printer/scanner for putting it away from the computer.
I rang a school friend who does computer support for the fruity firm and requested his presence to settle both issues.

Why do wives not just tell you WHAT they they want doing but HOW to do it ? I do believe I can just about manage basic skills like changing bed linen, vacuuming, taking the garbage to the bin, and doing the washing up without requiring instruction on every step.
Re: Rant of the Day v2.
Yep, same here. I am now not allowed to operate the domestic appliances as I am too stupid. Suits me!

Why do wives having flung open the windows to air the house then fill the house with foul smelling chemical air "fresheners" as a prelude to shaking foul smelling powder all over perfectly clean carpets which they then spend hours vacuuming up again successfully clogging up the filters on the vacuum?
