SWMBO is a slow learner.

After 45 years of marriage she still tells me "Don't . . ." As if she hasn't realised . . . 🙈🙉🙊

Or

"I need a new pair of shoes"

"I haven't got a thing to wear"

And

"I've had this years"

The truth of the latter is her sister's,

"I can't show Mike this new dress, he will go spare
"

In 45 years we are on our third suite. In 32 years in the last home one set of new carpets to replace the originals. The one time she changed a perfectly good, hardly used carpet (it smells, it didn't, carpets can't smell) we had me lay a composite plank flooring. Looked smart, easy to dust, sounded awful, couldn't be washed, estate agents wrinkled noses.

Akcherly - only 31 Today !! but I might eventually learn not to attempt to get a glass of water from the kitchen sink or put all the cutlery from the clean dishwasher back in the drawer, when "cooking" is in progress. Hint ... "where have all the forks gone, I need one NOW"

On Wednesday we had a new carpet fitted in the hallway plus another in the lounge, both of these replacing 25 year old ones. Yesterday a new suite arrived for the lounge - the previous one lasted 21 years. Mrs C16 now wants new curtains as "the present ones look shabby now that the new carpet and suite are in". She has also worked out that there is enough carpet left over from our oddly shaped lounge to carpet my study with only two joins. Wonder what she'll come up with today......

Once you have new carpet and new furniture, she will decide the interior needs painting.

She decided that as soon as we ordered the furniture in January - all done!

Some media websites will not permit me access because my browser has an inbuilt advertblocker.
Are they entitled to set the terms under which people may read their 'news'?

G-CPTN, of course, you need look no further than the BBC for restricted T&C. Newspapers generally charge you for their Newspapers; many online papers are behind a pay wall.

Our US government, seemingly incapable of ever telling the truth about anything, now sends out information which requires THREE SEPARATE AND DISTINCT actions to open the effing thing, and have the effrontery to label it "easy open".
Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgment.

I guess so.

What I laugh at is they say something like "oh! We've noticed you have an ad blocker on!" as if you've done it accidently, then they ramble on who they need advertisers revenue etc. Boo frigging hoo. I just go to another site carrying the same article that I can read with me Adblock on.

Then there's "to continue you reading you have to pay." I never ever pay for anything online if I can get away with it and solve the problem as above.

Sign in to Facef**k or Twatter to continue? Nope. Again go to another site for the same article.

I get the normal everyday copy of the SCMP delivered to my hotel room free. I'm quite ok with that.

One day I am going back to customer services with an easy open "You open that"

Got a blister pack of Varta batteries yesterday. 12 in the pack. I know that as I counted them as I picked them off the floor after I opened the pack.

Varta made U-Boat batteries in WW-II. Somewhat larger than AA and AAA I believe.
