The TV news is illustrated with 'single mum saying how she can't . . . " or "Old man whose operation has been postponed . . . ". or worker whose job is about to go.

Where do they find these people? Do people ring up and say me me or do they knock on doors?
I believe that these subjects exist in society and make a fuss by going to the (local) papers and from thence to the national MSM - it's a story after all (and the local 'journalist' will get paid for spreading the word).

If you look at any 'newspaper' or online newsfeed, there are many futile stories about 'influencers' and minor actors or 'personalities' (such as Katie Price) who have continual stories.

I would like to think that, if I say aloud "ohfergoodness'sake" and switch the radio off in a Marked Manner, somewhere there is a room with a bank of lights being monitored and a light will blink off and someone will exclaim, "She's not listening! She's not listening!" and go off and weep in the corner.

Karearea, I wish.

In the last 3-4 days, say 3 1/2, the TV has been on, on with a property porn channel of people looking for a dream home somewhere 5 years ago, or Gems TV which is at least live.

I have completed another jigsaw and caught up with the interactive news channel run by some pom in Oz (sorry Alison, joke).

MSM news just as repetitive as property porn.

Yes indeed!, i loathe 'headlines' like....'New hand washing liquid you must have...Here's why'.

Why 'Here's why'??if your purporting to be a 'News outlet' DO NOT dress up opinion as news and don't tell me 'Here's why'!!!

Every Christmas we used to pull a sleigh around town playing carols with Father Christmas aboard and giving sweets to the kids, we would be knocking on doors and collecting for our local charities.
Regularly a door would open 2 or 3 kids would run out and go for the sweets, Mother would be stood there done up to the nines and hung on to a six inch cigarette, you could see the 60" telly on the wall inside. The plaintive cry was " I cant give you any money,I'm on benefits". At the next house the sweet old lady would give you all her change and thank you for coming and for the good work you do.
And so it went on.

Good to see you back fliegs..

Last week I drove 10 miles, only to find that the shop that I wanted was closed on Wednesdays.
Today, thinking it was Tuesday, I took the bus to the same town, thought I would visit the bank there as my usual bank is closed 'for the duration', only to find that it closes on Wednesdays.
The shop was also closed.
What's more, it was raining there, whereas I left fine weather at home, therefore I wasn't prepared and got thoroughly soaked waiting for the bus back.
Mea culpa.

Wait for 7 days and try again.

BTW, did you leave your car there?

No - it was our warmest day and the aircon was welcome - and I bought the largest ice-cream that they would serve for take-away.

Last week I drove (there and back), today I took the bus (there and back).
I had to wait 20 minutes for the return bus - dressed in shirt-sleeves with no shelter.

Here we go. Number of children experiencing child abuse in a 4 week period up by 1392%. Wow.

Actually that is 10 when it is usually only 3 in 4 months of 0.67per month. That 1392 is a meaningless, if arithmetically correct, nunber.

Don’t suppose that they could back date it X(
Hundreds of thousands of homeowners will receive vouchers of up to £5,000 for energy-saving home improvements, with the poorest getting up to £10,000.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak is due to set out a £2bn grant scheme in England for projects such as insulation as part of a wider £3bn plan to cut emissions.
The Treasury said the grants could help to support more than 100,000 jobs.

Under the Green Homes Grant, the government will pay at least two-thirds of the cost of home improvements that save energy, the Treasury said.
