Being bitten to death by mosquitos tonight despite chemical heater plugs, sprays, etc. Big nasty weals on exposed skin.

They home in on the CO2. Just stop breathing and you'll be OK.

That was them, yes, although I think they rebranded to ScotAirways during the time I took flights with them. Do228 and then Do328 on later flights. It was great coming home, wheels down, off the aircraft, through customs, in the car and home within about 20 minutes of landing.

Sorry for thread drift and aviation content, Vulcan out of Goose, realising the tailwind did a high speed dash across the pond. For much of the way the doppler ground speed was on the stops at 750 kts.
They got back to Waddington a good hour before the customs officer

Similar apology as PN. Flew back from Wildenrath to Abingdon on the last scheduled Beverly flight before withdrawal from service. Strong headwinds all the way back, took forever, ice on the inside of the tail boom windows because there was no cabin heating, had a banging headache from previous night in MGB and met by HM C+E rummage team who stripped the aircraft and luggage looking for plunder. The search took longer than the flight - and today's youngsters complain about airport delays.

Shift Patterns.

As some will know but many won't the standard shift pattern for Line Engineering has for years been 2xDays, 2xNights, 4 days off. working 07-19,19-07.
I did this for most of my working life.
This pattern requires four shifts.
Our Union Chap decided there was a different way and eventually had it accepted. The Dan Air Engineering Manchester Five Shift system.
There were no holidays. 2D 2N 4O was worked just the same through a series of 7 cycles. Then the shift took 15 days off, being replaced by the off duty shift.
Worked perfectly, everybody thought it was great except the managers who didn't understand how no holidays could work.
The then 8 bank holidays were retained for when a day or two were needed. covered by overtime as required.
Beats earlies, lates, nights anyday.

At the papermill we did 2D 2N 48. 6 days off. We had a 10 day break in the spring and autumn and an 18 day break in the summer.When all added together it meant we were only on site for 4 months of the year.No wonder the management did not like that rota.

Residents Cards. What a horror story. Not renewal but replacements of previous forms. You can only get one if you never had one. If you had one, hard luck. You can't get one. Start again with procedure... Easier to change name, pretend to be different person, apply anew.

Residencia: all foreign documents, even tax receipts, have to be translated and certified for use in Spain. More costs, more delays.
