Should have got that! It was where we got on/off the bus to/from Luqa.
But it was 60 years ago

Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
So it's reasonable to assume we are looking in Morocco, Algeria or Tunisia then?

Not unreasonable to assume that.
The place has had a bit of a troubled past and was the scene of activity in a major allied operation in WWII.

The Glory obelisk at Oran, I think, which commemorates the battle of Sidi Brahim

If it's open house then here's another pub, but don't think it will last long.
Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
South west of England. Not your run of the mill sort of pub.
Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
OH declared. It's Tucker's Grave near Radstock.
Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
To be fair FD you didn't exactly give us anything to go on. I didn't clock it despite having been in it, albeit many years ago.
Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
I went there only once when we drove out from Bath about 1964. It was a real fleapit with dirty old armchairs and very strong scrumpy. Smelled like cat's piss and first pint a bit difficult to swallow, but the second went down very well. Usual stories were told about rats being used to help fermentation etc. At that point I was prevented from having any more, being young (under age legally) and unused to the stuff. I remember it was a suitably dark and misty winter's night though.
I have been spending a lot of time getting my better PC sorted after a major problem, so it's difficult monitoring threads sometimes, swapping between computers and re-installing software.

Artnoon all. Only just spotted this challenge, I drive past it often on the way to my daughters QTH.
The Tuckers Grave has smartened up its act a far bit, and now has a campsite attached. My local amateur radio club held a Pubs on the Air (POTA) special event radio station there recently.

As it's OH try this:

The building is a castle dating from the 11C which was extensively rebuilt after the Civil War. It suffered subsidence about 100 years ago due to coal mining in the area.

Not a pub.
