Nope. It is one of the lower 48.
Fox was on the right trail except for "northern".
This is NOT Ovid, Colorado, but in my humble opinion may tie with it for being one of the most forlorn places I've ever ended up.

If I squint it might be Mount Washington in New Hampshire.
Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
Sorry, a response which I made hours ago has gone missing.
Because of the real probability that I will be without internet and/or electricity before long (secondary to hurricane Barry) I will give it up.
A friend of mine who owned a PA-30 which we frequently flew together, had a son who left home for the west. They were somewhat estranged but my friend was concerned over what his son's environment was like, and tasked me with looking into it since I was flying to Albuquerque on vacation.
The location turned out to be almost a dead-heat tie with Ovid, Colorado as one of the most desolate and unpleasant places I had ever set foot (scenery obviously not counting). People were living in partially buried school buses and much of it resembled (and probably was) a forlorn hippie commune.
It is Questa, New Mexico

As there seems to be a break in the play, can I offer this easy one for former Cold War warriors.

I went once, did the Moehne Dam run and came home.
I think I got away with it
Is that the Brunswick Lion on the shield, bottom right?

No takers- where have all you Cold War warriors gone?.
One more clue: Located in a Hanseatic city, the figures revolve around the spire structure, it's not a church, and there's a carillon below. There's a well-known golf course not far away.

I thought you scribblys managed to wangle yourselves some very cushy oversea's postings - more especially if you were a member of "the Circle" at Innsworth.

OK. Time for the reveal.
It is the Stathuis in Roermond, Holland.
Just about 10 seconds flying time from Bruggen where a very fine golf course, located within the confines of the airfield's boundary, and the opportunity to top up on duty free's and slabs of Wobbly, Bitburger, etc was the underlying reason for so many duty visits.
OH declared.

Will accept open house, thank you 4M.
Don't think that we have been here before but very distinctive. Not a good photo but taken under difficult conditions.

My first thought was somewhere like Thule.

Good thought 4M but this place has lower temperatures than Thule. There is a restaurant with a 5 star chef.

Just a little trivia about a place with low temperatures :

The planet’s most northerly human settlement is in the midst of an “unprecedented” heatwave as parts of the Arctic endure one of their hottest summers on record.
Canada’s weather agency confirmed on Tuesday that temperatures in Alert, Nunavut, peaked at 21C at the weekend – far exceeding the July average for the area of around 5C.
Overnight temperatures on Sunday remained above 15C; again, well in excess of nighttime lows that usually hover around freezing in a settlement that lies less than 900km from the North Pole.

Gap in the market there for a/c.
Next clue, only 13 people live here, next humans are 600 kms away. Apparently they hold darts competitions with them. It is a long way to chuck a dart.

Radio darts was a big thing in the Falklands but "600kms" suggests not those islands.
