Morning all.

After spending time fruitlessly searching for "panda in tree sculpture", the penny dropped and substituting cow for panda led to Melbourne.

Your 'for the blokes' I took as a clue. There is a sea swimming place in Sandycove, just south of Dublin, that used to be a men only swimming spot. Water 40 ft deep. Hence the name. When I was a kid is was skinny dipping and no ladies. Since googled and see it's not the place, no skinny dipping and wimmin have gained entry.

"There is a sea swimming place in Sandycove, just south of Dublin, that used to be a men only swimming spot."

There was a place like that in Cape Town, called Graaff's Pool. It was generally frequented by gay men. I went for lunch one day with 3 colleagues and as we were walking back towards town we split into 2 groups of 2, with the others trailing us a hundred yards or so behind. I saw a policeman and told him that these two men had followed us out of Graaff's and had made improper suggestions and were following us. In those days being gay in ZA was pretty much frowned upon, so he strode off to deal with this threat to national security and our backsides.

The expression on their faces when he challenged them was priceless!

Anyway, this photo is not Graaff's Pool

Union Street, Plymouth certainly used to have a bit of a rep.

Had a girlfriend in Plymouth. Legs up to her armpits huge things up front which Slasher would approve of. White as snow and always ill. She had to go. She married a pongo.

Disgraced herself with a brown job alright, ex-Ascot!

Yes there used to be lots of hoes down Union Street - especially the night before one of Maj's Ships was due to sail away for a year or so and the lads wanted a last taste of home so to speak...busy nights for the Naval Patrols!

I thought Graaff's Pool and Sandycove would get you guys there. I'd forgotten about Westward Ho!

It's the Lions Den on Plymouth Hoe, some time haunt of crusty old blokes sunbathing in the buff. Seems there's no requirement for it nowadays, or it was maybe considered sexist not to provide a female equivalent, so it became a pop up theatre venue.

OH as I haven't anything else at the moment.

The glimpse of that pool in the background certainly brings back memories of a terrific holiday in the summer of ‘59 when I was twelve.
