Plenty of opportunities for ruining a good walk in this area.

Well, Harrogate is surrounded by golf courses, Menwith Hill is in one direction and the John Smith's (Yer barrred!) brewery in the other. Am I in the ballpark?

No Fox. With your background I would have thought it may have been one of your drinking dens whilst not chasing the Red Star mob. There was intense rivalry with the hostelry across the road.

Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
In my era, the hoff'cers always used the country pubs and left the town pubs for the airmen. So, I am at a bit of a disadvantage here.

You got it Karearea. It is indeed the 'Commie' in Leuchars village. A watering hole for the light blue and dark blue when Leuchars was home to the mighty Phantom. The camp now taken over by the Army. Across the road was "Hendies" (aka Ye Olde Hotel) where the formidable Nancy would growl at folk "Gerrooot, yer barrred" for even the slightest transgression, including walking through the door on your first visit. Many a piss-up social evening interrupted by the station's hooter announcing yet another exercise to defend the nation against the Red hordes. Tick-a-tick referred to the Timex factory in Dundee; the 'good walk spoilt' to the many golf courses in the area.

A candidate for the worst pub in England.
Used out of desperation.
On my 1st visit I told the landlord his bitter was off. He tasted it and told me that it was normal!
Om, You're it.

Thanks Ian , just to confirm it is The Bell at Marham, I sort of left for someone else to have a go, here is another pub that will be familiar to some,

You must have had luxuries such as motor cars.4mastacker wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2019 4:00 pmVisited the Bell at Marham only the once whilst I was stationed there...once was enough.
It was the only pub within walking distance.

A major (for the area) 17th century seaport, now more widely known as a cult destination.

Not Cornwall, but there are RAF connections. You are looking for a foundation.

I'm sure that this is familiar to at least two members, Coastal Command.

Kimberley Inn, Findhorn. Customers dressed for summer!
Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
That's it, the Kimberley, I tended to go next door to the Crown and Anchor, I hope to re visit next year.
