Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
I've been wombling round Volgograd on goggle maps for a while, yet I can't find that particular statue
Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
Fox, I can't find it either! I initially found the street scene in the suburbs, I think in the north east, but can't get back to it.
Edit, It must be one of these
«Great Lenin" - Liberty Square (the intersection of Victory Avenue and the streets of the World)
«Little Lenin" - the Children's park named after Alexander Pushkin.
A monument in the main building of the Volgograd State Technical University.
2 monuments in car-repair factory.
Lenin monument at the entrance of the Volga-Don channel - set in the Krasnoarmeysk area (height pedestal) - 30 meters, the sculpture - 27 meters. Sculptor - EV Vucetich. listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the highest monument of a man who lived reality[citation needed]. Earlier, on the same pedestal, there was a monument to Stalin.
In the central region on Lenin Square on the 90th anniversary of the monument to Lenin. Sculptor - EV Vucetic.
In the central region, in the park opposite the building of regional administration.
The Post Office building is a statue of Lenin.

Well, that doesn't narrow it down much! Slightly more common that Lenin statues in Russia
Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
Think of a cross between a donkey and a horse. That should narrow it down a bit!

Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
So it looks as though this thread is running out of steam. I won't be around tomorrow a.m. to keep in touch so the answer is Sir Frank Whittle's statue outside the Coventry Transport Museum. om15 obviously knew the answer but declined to say it for some reason.

A Tesla factory?
Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
No, this is a Tesla factory. Looks way more impressive from above than it does when I drive past, too.
Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
Is it some sort of sports stadium, or a theatre?

That many doors with emergency bars on them would imply a large auditorium inside. Some sort of event venue.
The colours match the Greek flag; is that where we are?
Or maybe Israel, Nicaragua, or Finland.
