It is Stans, well found Capes, I used to overnight there when visiting the nearby Pilatus plant, it is a lovely place next to the lake, I used to take the train down to Lucerne and then hop on a small commuter train, punctual to the minute, spotlessly clean with polite staff.

My experience of Swiss hotels has always been very good - except once.
After a long day I arrived at the Basle Airport hotel, checked in to a room on the very top floor, quick shower and down to the restaurant in an adjacent part of the hotel which was also a casino. Arrived at the restaurant, sank into a chair and requested a beer please, can I see your passport, eh? this is a casino and you have to prove that you are over 18 to eat here. As I had had a hard day and looked my age plus 10 years I could only give the young lady an expressionless stare before climbing back up to my room for my passport. She did then pretend that I had won some sort of raffle or draw which meant that I had free beer with my meal.

I digress, Capes has the baton.

I love Switzerland. I go there often just for the joy of the punctuality the cleanliness, and the efficiency. My preferred longhaul carrier is Swiss and I usually break my journey in ZRH for a day or so to go somewhere by train. I'm a chocoholic and a railway nut so I am in my own little heaven there. People say it's expensive but that's the price of quality, and I enjoy spending money there.

Next challenge, easy I should think. It is my own photo.

I passed through Switzerland once, on my motorcycle, on a Sunday. Thought I would send a postcard. The tourist shop had postcards, and stamps too. The lady would not sell me a stamp "as the post offices are closed on Sundays. It is against the rules." The last part was spoken with somewhat more venom that the Gestapo are typically portrayed as using when questioning gay communist jewish spies. I put the postcard back and left rapidly before the men in long leather coats arrived.

I think people either love Switzerland or hate it. The rules are consistent and apply whoever you are.

Not in Europe. I'm glad this is proving a little more challenging than I thought it would.

There are famous waterwheels on the Isle of Wight and the Isle of Man. This is neither.

Any guesses? As I said, it is my own photo but it should be fairly easy to find it on the www.

Slightly better shot. It is a DC3. Over the Ardennes right now at FL100.

Evening all.

With those square towers, are we in Spain? La Alhambra perhaps?
