The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
I suppose it's Malawi but I have nothing with which to back that up.

Going by the clues, I'm thinking Blantyre, Malawi, 'cos it's a bit lower than Lilongwe.

I looked on Giggle Earth at airfields in Nyasaland, and couldn't find anything like the picture.Capetonian wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2020 2:16 pmI suppose it's Malawi but I have nothing with which to back that up.
But couldn't get the ground view in country.

Along the right lines Cape but Malawi has a population of over 18 million. We are talking a low population East African county with a unique lake. Awful place, tourists practically zero. Who would go there apart to pick up fuel on a transit oop Africa?Capetonian wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2020 2:16 pmI suppose it's Malawi but I have nothing with which to back that up.
Been to Lilongwe, seemed OK. Can't remember if it was a night stop. Sitting by the pool with a sunset home made hooch or would go and check log books.
Edit. Getting a bit hectic here. OK yes, been to Blantyre as well. Again would not nuke it. Not Malawi.

I had my bets on you or Cape, Ian. Not on the booze stores opening here though. So we have a win on both fronts
OK name the building Sir and you get 48 ltrs of unneeded hooch sent down south.
Extra litre for the three reasons to nuke the place, ***** hole one, Cape and I share views on the other two.

I might have passed over the place, twixt Khartoum and Khormakser, in a Hastings about now in 1960. We worked over Whit weekend and had a long weekend when we got back to UK.
Going to have my last beer with tonight's pork chops, and go out and replenish tomorrow.
OH.

You must have used a military one run by the Armee de l'Air.

Ian, Djibouti–Ambouli International Airport is joint civilian and military. Not aware of another one.
Awaiting ID on the building. There can't be many smart looking places in that pit.

It looks like a government building, but the lack of flags indicate otherwise.
Is it post independence? There would have been a rush of diplomatic activity with that.

Ian, you can see the shadows of the flags which were there. Someone sneakily took them away.
You are close enough Sir. https://www.islamicinvitationturkey.com ... -official/
You are in the Chair.

Antalya in Turkey (I think from the cafe!) Went there in Hermes once but we would have swamped the port so we had a banyan down the coast a bit. OH if correct.
