Lars has it. One presumes that you have been there. All yours.

Indeed. Visiting with the lovely Betty, a raven haired Italian beauty and driving her father's beautifully restored Fiat 500. He seemed happier entrusting his daughter to me than his car.
Also sailed there from Malta.
Still haven't figured out how to post photos here so OH.

Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
Lars, Alison has made it very easy to upload photos. I obviously know how to do it but wouldn't like to explain as I do not know the technical term for various buttons and procedures. I am sure if you go onto the computer pages here it is explained there a few times. Good luck. In the mean time give this a bash.

1. Ensure you've clunked the 'Full Editor & Preview' button.
2. Scroll down and click "Attachments".
3. Press the "Add files" button
4. After a few seconds you'll be given choices of which folders on your puter or phone you want to pick from. Click on one from the list.
5. Select the pic you want. Then press "next" or "done" depending on your puter or phone.
6. You'll come back to the web page. You'll see the pic being loaded as indicated by a green line with the kilobytes indicated.
7. Once it's downloaded you'll see a "Place inline" button appear. Press it.
8. Press "Review" button to check everything has worked.
9. Press the "Submit" button.
10. Voila.

Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
Capt, the only thing you didn't mention is size the size of the photo.
'Yes, Madam, I am drunk, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly.' Sir Winston Churchill.
Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
Yes sah. If the site says "404 - file size too big" (or indeterminate as in the case of gifs) the only solutions I know are either:
1. crop the pic to a smaller size and try again
Or if that doesn't work
2. Take a screenshot or photo of said pic and try that. For some reason screenshots have a much better chance of being accepted. Might be the format. For a laptop hitting the "print screen" button on the keyboard and saving it as a jpg works well too.
For gifs take a pic of the best frame you want to post. Save as jpg. Or clunk "split frames" on a puter application (I use Irfanview) to store all frames in a desired temp folder. They' usually save as jpg by default.
Hope this all helps.

No Capt. We actually thought of having a pond like that and running stream with a solar powered water pump but it would stop at night and be a mosquito bonking ground. Not Botswana.
For photo size reduction I use Photoshop about the only thing I can do with the dam thing. I am sure there are other similar simpler programs that allow you to select the pixel size.

Size reduction.
I use a little program called "Fast Image Re-sizer" which is simple, quick and free.
You set the size, and a destination folder then just drag your images in.
for posting pictures you don't need all this button stuff. I plonk the picture on the desktop and then just drag it to the reply in full editor.
The inline button appears after a second or two, click that and Robert is your Father's Brother.

Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
I was playing around a bit and took a photo of Ex-A's last pic using both screenshot and Prt Scrn options.
Both full shots were deemed too big in jpg even with a good pixel reduction. After cropping it I successfully managed to post in .png format of the deflated-balled dick tree below. Cropping the same in jpg was still declared too big. Fuctifino why.

I forget why it was recommended but I hold down the windows button then press prt scn take that from screen shot folder put it on desk top. Put it in photo shop reduce save to desktop and then as Wodders said drag it across in preview mode. Hope that makes sense. Me no expert just go on advice.

Clue time. It is in S.A. and many folk on this forum have been within a few miles of it probably more than once.

Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
Simples Sir. There are two versions of the reply dialog - one a Quick Reply, and the other Full Editor and Preview. Make sure you are in the Full Editor and Preview dialog. Enter your textual content, position the cursor where you want your image positioned and then drag the image off your desktop or wherever into the reply dialog. Once it has been uploaded, in the attachments box below the text box click Place Inline. And it's done. I always click Preview to check it's correct before submitting. Within reason the forum software will resize the image to fit, to save you the trouble having to do so. That's probably because it is not the Balalaika, but jolly close Alison. The Balalaika Hotel in Sandton. 'Cept they didn't have peacocks and the pond when I was last there.

Sah when you say jolly close, do you mean it's close to Sandton?

Closer than close Capt. It is in Sandton. This exact photo is on the WWW but in a slide show.

OK let us try another photo of the place.

Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
It's been over 20 years since I was in Sandton and I recall only the Betterlikeit hotel and Planet Hollywood at the bottom of the hill, and walking once to the Sandton shopping centre and back. Rest is a bit of a blur unfortunately.
Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
I don't know JNB well enough to do more than a wild guess, which would be the Westcliff, just off Jan Smuts Avenue, if that road hasn't been renamed after some snout-in-trough non-reflective thief from the ANC, and if the hotel still exists and hasn't been turned into a squatter camp.
