Not a challenge but I thought this was a good place to post this video :

I find it hard to believe that so many people can be so ignorant, but I suppose with the appropriate editing you can give that appearance. Watch the young lad at the end though!

‘Ere! What happened to the Mk2 version? Wouldn’t have thought there was enough on it to merit a Mk3.

Could that be the home of photography, Lacock Abbey?

Thanks. Can you track this building down? It's an ancillary building servicing a larger one close by which contains an auditorium:

It looks a bit gaudy at first glance, but don't think it is, will need to reflect on this.

(Gaudi, of course)

Yes we are in Europe.

The site is the World Centre of an association of people who wish to influence the souls of individuals and indeed human society on the basis of awareness of the spiritual world. It was founded just over 100 years ago and currently has over 50,000 members with branches in many countries round the world. The movement was banned by the Nazis in the 30's as that regime suspected it was strongly influenced by pacifist, freemasons and (unsurprisingly) Jews. Not in Germany, the main building burnt down in the 1920's and was rebuilt by an architect whose works are considered to be freed from traditional architectural constraints. It and around a dozen other structures on the site have protected status from the State as National Monuments.

When it suits, for example playing football or in singing competitions.

The tall elaborate structure on the roof houses the chimney outlet from the machinery contained within.

Obviously devilishly hard to find! This is the principal building on the site which contains two auditoriums (one twice the capacity of the other), conference rooms, a library and bookshop and the administrative offices of the Society. It is named after a well known 18thC German writer.

We should be looking in central Europe.

"a well known 18thC German writer".
I can only think of two despite having studied German Literature (I failed) and language at school.
One of them was .......... a real pissant who was very rarely stable,

Nowhere near Portugal om. Not enough information Capes to decide to whom you are referring. Although born in the middle of the 18thC he did not actually die until well into the 19th and to be fair his (probably) most famous work was not published until the 1800's.
