Not in the UK, but there is a clue here.
Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
I'll put a bet on each way, it is Easter Island or Fiji.

Right part of the world. You were very close with the non-UK answer.
There's a famous shipwreck just to the left of centre in the photo. The Bay is named after the ship. The Lieutenant in command was Court Martialled and exonerated.
The name of the Bay, or of the adjacent town, is the correct answer.

Found it! But as OM has done the hard bit, I'll defer - I was looking a few thousand miles away in the wrong direction.

Yup. That's the place.
"Captain" Bligh was a Lieutenant, not a Captain at the time; and "HMS" Bounty was actually an HMAV, not an HMS.
The hull is still there. The ship's bell is upturned in someone's garden and had been re-purposed as a flower pot.
You have the ship, and all the breadfruit you can eat, Om.

I've been converted.
We are located at a museum with huge historical interest, I visited it and found it very impressive.

My temporary avatar was intended to indicate the area that you might start looking, however I have reverted to a recent normal passport photo.

Vasa museum, Stockholm?
It's always my fault - SWMBO
Re: The Smokin' Hot Where On Earth Thread Mk III
It is, the Vasa museum, it is most impressive, a strange story with a WWII twist, recommended.
