Sorry for the delay. No UK, but further south.

Thank you OM but no reason to hold back.

The MacDonald Randolph Hotel in Beaumont Street, Oxford.

Here is an interesting review on trip advisor if you are thinking of booking a visit there,
The Randolph is a beautiful hotel and is ideally situated in the centre of Oxford, but it could be so much nicer. We had a small room on the inside of the building on the 3rd floor with a dingy view - the lower windows were covered in film to disguise the view, but it had come off some of the panes so they were just covered in sticky glue. The wardrobe light kept turning itself on and off and the television remote didn't work - not what you expect for £265 a night!

Breakfast was completely chaotic - it felt as if we had come downstairs into an episode of Fawlty Towers. The staff are all very nice but there is no organisation at all. We were sent to the bar for breakfast as there was no room in the dining room, but there was no one to serve breakfast in the bar. In the end we tried our luck again in the dining room. No one told us about the buffet - which is around a corner from the main dining room so easy to miss - or offered any tea or coffee. The toast was cold and had clearly been left sitting around for ages. The staff were rushing about but not seeming to do very much and on tables all around people were getting increasingly irritated by the slow service. It took us 45 minutes to be served breakfast. When we checked out they said there had been a "problem" with breakfast service but it appears to happen regularly looking at other reviews.

The parking service is very efficient - but so it should be at £40 a day.’

Yes indeed OM all yours. I used to park there when going to my dentist next door. It was quite reasonable by the hour. You chucked them the keys and they gave the car back to you when you got back.

These days the place is full of Yanks and Japs.

The idea for the gardens was conceived in the early 1830s, the land acquired from the family of a wealthy snuff maker and design carried out by leading designers of the day. Contains a bear pit.
