Thank you sah. That is a fabulous layout. One is greener than a green thing with envy.

Nice beach.

The sea looks grey!

Not blue enough to be the Med or Caribbean.

Not the Med, not the Caribbean, not the Black Sea.

The two-storey building behind the building (hotel, apartment block?), looks to be Spanish or Portuguese, possibly. Are we in South America?

The River Paraguay is a similar colour, but it's not Asuncion.

Not the River Paraguay, not Asuncion. Think Jimmy Nail and Johnny Cash.

Ah, a bit further along. I believe it's Manaus - or at least the outskirts thereof.

You have reached your destination. Well done sir. Manaus it is - the Tropical Executive Hotel to be precise.

My reference to Jimmy Nail and Johnny Cash is the song 'Big River' - the Amazon.

You have control.

By Jimmy Nail, I assume you mean James Michael Aloysius Bradford =)) Yes, 'twas a useful clue!
I used to stay in a hotel called the Tropical in Manaus, owned by Varig, which was not far from the city. This is clearly much further out.
I don't have anything for the moment, so OH.

He used to live just round the corner from us when he was a lad. Him and his mates played football on a bit of spare ground near our house and their football regularly landed in me dad's garden. He would jump over the fence to retrieve the ball and trample on the plants. Things came to a head when he trampled all over me dad's leeks. His dad worked with my dad in Swan Hunters so a word was had and little Jimmy was grounded - leek growing was a serious business in them parts.
