I was listening to Robert Plant's rendition of Morning Dew and was apt to think of Canadian Bonnie Dobson, the writer of that song, which is actually quite a dark evocation of the aftermath of nuclear war rather than a spring morning. Clearly I have not been listening closely enough to the lyrics despite all these years of loving and listening to this beautiful song.
Dobson has a penchant for the dark lyrics as her beautiful rendition of Winter’s Going demonstrates… an evocation of the psychosis and despair of a spurned pregnant woman.
