Love that piece of Great Lakes music but that video/photo was taken off the east coast of South Africa by one of the French officers on the brige of an oil tanker as a huge 100 foot wave hit them from abeam.

Yeah, that water don't look like any of the Great Lakes, and I've seen 'em all. There was a documentary on the sinking some years ago with computer simulation as well as models in a wave tank. The doc was done at an oceanographic institute in St. John's NF. They concluded a rogue wave got them, the third of three. They'd also hit the Arthur M. Anderson, the ship that was following the Fitz and who was guiding her with her radar, the radar on the Fitz being out. The Anderson was taking green water over her pilot house. The evening in question we'd arrived in Montreal while the airport was still in the warm sector ahead of the cold front that caused the Fitz storm. Low ceilings and rain, 40 kts of wind. I was having a beer at the Montreal Interline Club when the news came on the TV. No one there just the barmaid and I, playing pool. She had on a wrap around skirt as part of her uniform, and as she went around a corner of the table to take a shot, her skirt hooked on something and fell off. She was standing there in a blouse and a thong.

It is an ill wind that blows nobody any good and all that Stoneboat!
