We consume no units at all, ever. Just glasses, tumblers, flutes and the occasional swig directly from the bottle. Hence our consumption in units is zero.

Not being one for a complicated life I have to admit that I have one favourite straight sided tumbler for all of my non-social drinking needs. For wine it is filled pretty much to the brim, for scotch and brandy it is filled to an intersection in the decoration, for G&T it is filled with the G to the same intersection and then topped off with T. Whatever liquid is contained it seems to be a very satisfactory amount.
How long will it be before our glasses are required to be marked with "Units" ?

Even with limited Internet I can't avoid the latest blah about how many units a week you can or can't drink a week, and whether red wine is or isn't good for your heart etc etc. 8-|
Sure that they’re not checking up on you =))

Anyone know what the wine was? Might put it on my do-not-drink list.

I suppose that the lesson here is to keep in training.

Drink regularly and consistently.

Not really suitable here either, it wasn't foolish or fool hardy and the link says it was not necessarily the wine.

I think that's a fair conclusion. :)

Boeing, you will find that not washing your Favourite Glass between tipples can result in some interesting flavours, for example wine after brandy. I would however caution against such mixtures as crem de menth with raspberry cordial, or Bailey's with absinth... Thanks, Dellboy...

OFSO,
I guess I will have to stop drinking water from the same glass - I'm missing out on the flavour mixes.

Russian poker star, 26, dies after ‘accidentally electrocuting herself with hairdryer in bath’

I think this qualifies.

Obviously no Earth Leakage Breaker. Our ELB triggers instantly when I throw the hair dryer in the bathwater. So far no death or injuries.....oh, whoops, that's a give-away !

"Russia's Investigative Committee (SK) confirmed she had been electrocuted. All the reports suggest that it was an accident."

Ah well, another problem solved, Vlad.

On the subject of breakers, a former colleague almost got into the Darwin Award category when he tripped the arblast breakers when I was underneath a 40 MVA alternator switching it from star to delta (voltage change). The airblast was powered by a compressor running off a 1MW motor, and is designed to disperse the plasma arc when the breaker trips. The wuckfit and I had a full and frank exchange of views. Once I'd wiped my arse. These things go BANG!!!

At least 45 Nigerians were killed and many more injured after a tank truck carrying petrol crashed while attempting to avoid a pothole. It is thought that a passing vehicle which had the exhaust dragging on the ground (surely not !) created sparks, triggering a huge explosion among people who had gathered to - wait for it - collect spilled fuel.

OFSO, that of course is a direct result of lack of local news reporting.

All the survivors were killed so they never learn.

Were they survivors, or were they killed. If the latter, then by whom?

xx

Confused,
Edinburgh.
