Prince and Police
Re: Prince and Police
Well I swore an oath of allegiance in my younger days, but that doesn't mean that geriatric old duffers should be allowed to drive around causing accidents because they are too old to safely drive anything more powerful than an invalid carriage.
I have no objection to the Monarchy providing that I don't have to pay for any of their largesse, I would in principle be in favour of turning over their country houses to the homeless and suspect that by cleaver accountancy they do not pay as much income tax as they should on their huge wealth.
I think that they should only continue to enjoy our admiration if they behave reasonably, some of them do, some don't.

"because they are too old to safely drive anything more powerful than an invalid carriage"
And there are many instances were these aren't driven safely either. One old boy near us used to swing off the High Street aiming for the white line down the middle of the side road. He would drive down the centre line back to his care home.
Or the old dear, determined look in her eye, arrow straight down the pavement at 8 mph.
We did have the odd car driver that would only turn left. Made for some long trips home.

Re: Prince and Police
I always understood that the purpose of Socialism is to give everyone the same share of misery.
Churchill said something to that effect, and he had a far better command of English than me.
Edited to add the actual quote:
Winston Churchill Quotes: Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

+2. I too took the Oath of Allegiance and the Queen's Shilling. Those who have done the same yet voice contempt for what they swore to support, leave nothing but a rancid stench of hypocrisy. With that kind of (dis)loyalty on display, I hope they were never allowed access to anything more classified than the "Beano".admin wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 10:31 am
K & C be wary, be very wary. A significant number of the members here are avowed monarchists, having sworn an oath of allegiance in their younger days. Including yours truly - Admin.
I am a staunch monarchists. I do not profess to like all of the members of the House of Windsor, but the more important ones, well yes Sir. HRH PP a brilliant guy who deserves every consideration. So leave him alone. Thank You.
Admin/Alison
There are members of the 'firm' who did/do not endear themselves to the public, but HMQ and HRH PP are definitely not in that category.
It's always my fault - SWMBO
Re: Prince and Police
I should point out that my oath of allegiance was to HMQ, her heirs and successors, not PP!

I have been out all day and normally ignore the meaningless, cynical and odious ramblings of our resident pseudo-Marxist, but the preceding postings drew my attention to his vile and ignorant response, presumably as with so many others dictated into a device, which would explain them being littered with constant spelling mistakes, coughing and hesitations.
What a vile, bitter and twisted individual you are, with your jealousy of anyone who is superior to you - and that has to be most people. What a shallow miserable life you must lead.
Whilst the posting contains some valid comments, the tone is your normal objectionable bile, in particular the first line. Nobody is constrained to be a Monarchist, indeed I am no Monarchist, but a modicum of respect towards one of the most admired families in the country, if not the world, people who have given their lives to public service, would be in order.
I agree it's a non-story.
You have no idea at all whether he should have been driving or not and whether "he still had the capability to assimilate all the factors involved in order to drive." What right do you have to present yourself as some kind of expert on such matters? I suppose you have never in your entire miserable existence made an error of judgement or a rash move which might have negatively affected another party.
You and your opinions and the way you express them make me want to puke. You are despicable, with your pompous attempts at sounding superior when you are clearly not. I hope I never have the misfortune to meet you or anyone of your type in real life. Mercifully in real life I can afford to isolate myself from filth like you.
There is a rule to play the ball and not the man, in your case I am happy to break the rule, regardless of the consequences.

Cape,I think I can guess of whom you refer. I had not read the post here, nor have I read the post in TOP, but it is almost inevitable that he doubles up to maximise his impact.

Yes well Cape, I think that has told him
Did HRH PP himself write that for you? Having seen him a little aggravated a few times it would be worthy of His Royal Highness. Bloody great guy. Very, very humorous. Remind me to tell you about the time we landed to refuel somewhere in Greece and the locals gave him a record of Greek music.

Nope, all crunched via keyboard and fingers, but, have you ever tried typing with 7.5kgs of stroppy cockapoo bouncing around on you ?...have a seat next to the window and madam likes to stand on me, paws on the window ledge, and monitor the world.
What a vile, bitter and twisted individual you are, with your jealousy of anyone who is superior to you - and that has to be most people. What a shallow miserable life you must lead.
I owe you an apology.....I never really thought self-deprecation and introspection was your forte....until now.

Very noble sentiments, albeit not quite worthy of a blue plaque on the wall. Slight problem however with the "given their lives to public service " bit....they were randomly born into a family whose occupation is precisely that......apart from swanning around the world, sitting on a horse, walking a corgi, or two, and having their every whim indulged.
I agree it's a non-story.
Hey, well done !
You have no idea at all whether he should have been driving or not and whether "he still had the capability to assimilate all the factors involved in order to drive." True, I'm just a thick engineer and not a medic, apart from being a current qualified first aider and defib. trained, buuuut, and I could be wrong here, the human body and its faculties does tend to degrade over time...something called the ageing process I seem to recall. Thankfully, mine, and my faculties, remain in pretty good shape.
You and your opinions and the way you express them make me want to puke. You are despicable, with your pompous attempts at sounding superior when you are clearly not. I hope I never have the misfortune to meet you or anyone of your type in real life. Mercifully in real life I can afford to isolate myself from filth like you.
I can understand your fragility and insecurity here...but, having exemplified your introspection earlier in the post, there was no real need to have a reprise.
Actually, I think it would be jolly good fun to meet for a spot of tiffin or Afternoon Tea "..my social graces have come on significantly since I learned the bit of paper or cloth was there to wipe the crumbs and gravy from ones gob, and not to use as a handkerchief ....and the progress from fingers to metal cutlery, man !! that was some quantum leap I can tell you ! ....actually, I would be interested in learning your perception off "my type ".....another poster on TOP once said the same about me and went one better than you with the immortal line of "having a dig at your betters "...he's on here as well, but, wisely has not chosen to post much about himself..so far. Please don't be offended here, but, possibly the rest of society has already isolated itself...but not from me.
There is a rule to play the ball and not the man, in your case I am happy to break the rule, regardless of the consequences.
"He who would valiant be,' gainst all disaster".....can't remember the rest but if you know the words, feel free to sing along to your hearts content. Music can be very therapeutic actually.

Re: Prince and Police
This story of the Prince and the Porpoise (or should that be pauper) just runs and runs. I think we need KAG back just to add some extra spice to the tussles. He was a French Revolutionary after all and look what they did to their monarch.

Today, of course, the French elect their monarchs. And then execute them, metaphorically speaking. Like most nations they would be better off having a real monarch rather than a pseudo Emperor.
Agree about KAG. Compared to the modern-day thorns in our underwear, he was almost likeable. If you are reading this, KAG........

Why have we heard not a squeak from the driver of the other car ? Only from the pale skinned Diane Abbott lookalike passenger....

Because the driver is probably a Lady. The albino Abbott is just seeking press attention and probably compensation.

Perhaps the other driver wasn't interested in making any money out of it..
