Just had a snackette of toasted sourdough with melted Brie. Cottage pie for tea.

Just found some smoked salmon and prawns that was supposed to be eaten at Christmas, but with salad and jacket spuds this evening, healthy eating
When all else fails, read the instructions.

Tonight it is a childhood favourite...another one my Grandmother used to cook....'Corned Beef Fritters'!
Slices of leftover corned beef in a flour salt milk egg batter and pan fried till golden. eaten cold with tomoto sauce & salad. Yum!
A classic war time dish when you think about it. Using up rations of flour & eggs milk, and corned beef....that'd be where she learnt it...

Roast chook dinna with rice and side of fish dumplings in the pub tonight. Decided to have some normal Chink grub after wolfing traditional full-on the past few days.

I think we were better of not knowing what was in them!
Spam fritters were good though.

I'm doing a sort of Shepherd's Pie but without the Shepherds, one is using Rural Chicken instead, Leeks, Carrot, a bit of Onion, some Tarragon at present simmering in a white wine/ chicken stock combination.
After a quick taste toying with the idea of more Tarragon.

Is that a 'hen'?
Shortly after the War - when food was rationed - my father brought home a hen (a present from farmer).
I was fascinated by the sequence of eggs from a fully-formed standard size with a hard shell through soft-rubbery ones down to a tiny 'seed'.

It's what the Spanish call it, it's yellow so in English I think it would be corn fed.

Might go Western tonight. There’s a good steak place not too far from here that the protesting Unwashed haven’t wrecked yet. Bit spensive though.

Rossian, still here but mostly in lurk mode because with hospital appointments (me), visits to elderly relatives (700 mile round trip (MrsP)), and babysitting the ankle biter, something had to give, and I'm afraid it's my screen time that has been curtailed. FWIW, it's stovies tonight (posts passim), but made with lamb and leeks, rather than beef and onion.

After this afternoon's rugby, we will be ordering a delivery of tapas-style Indian grub from a new highly-recommended place along the road.

What ho! Magnus. Good to see you back in the bazaar. I hope your troubles decrease. Mine have 90% gone away as Madame has her two new hips and no pain, She goes to the local hydro therapy pool, drives herself around and arranges meetings with all the friends who rallied round and took her out and about. She is now returning the favours.
Pain is a dreadful affliction, I hadn't fully understood the wider psychogical effects of it.
