Rossian, I have to ca' canny on pulses, as they're high in purines and make me gouty. I generally try things that are not too dissimilar to stuff I've had before, but then try tweaking the recipe again. The chook/plum/tarragon recipe worked well, but I find myself wondering whether fennel might be worth a try in place of the onion. I also have a mate who's a chef in a Michelin-starred place, and he suggests some interesting tweaks. Fun, isn't it?

Don't know, but as long as it is not some type of water passing itself off as soup and a bowl of jelly I will be over the moon.Plus I think my eyeballs are starting to float from this full liquid diet.

Roasted a couple of fillet steaks for 15 mins on a rack over the King Edwards that had been crisping for 40 mins

Red wine gravy and sugar snap peas, runner beans and cauliflower

Eaten in front of Kenneth Branagh's "Murder on the Orient Express"

Tidy

Having read Magnus's Pork Belly with Pear & Figs OR Chicken with Plums & Tarragon, it'll be either of those....pending what is available at the shops.

Are the Telegraph recipes behind a paywall? All my devices are connected through my subscription, but the foodie stuff might be fully accessible. I often cut out the "Art of Friday Supper" for ideas.

Leftover chook/plum tonight with mash & whatever veggies I can find lurking.

Had a bit of a cook-for-the-granddottir-day yesterday and froze containers of lentil soup, mince, mash &c. As a result, I have a big chunk of boiled piggy in the fridge (stock for soup), so it'll be a simple boiled ham, spuds and cabbage tea tonight. I found a jar of kimchi hiding in the fridge, so it may well feature.

Fettling a chilli con carne at the behest of SWMBO. The pork/pear/fig concoction will be tried tomorrow.

Roast Chook with Lemon, onion, sage stuffing, roasted root vegetables, sauteed spinach & gravy ... :)

Chook & Veggies done in a disposable aluminium pan, thrown in the rubbish, plates in the dishwasher, clean up is a breeze! :)

Going here for dinner tonight....

https://www.koibroadbeach.com.au/

Typically overpriced, and will no doubt be a lot of typically pretentious w@nkers.....But Mrs Fliegs friend & her Husband are in from the Country and staying in Broady, so that's where she has picked....

OK, very expensive, but in the end 'they' insisted on paying... :/ ...and surprisingly for the suburb not an idiot in sight..

So then-
'Signature' Sand Crab Lasagne, topped with Abalone cream sauce & Tempura soft shell crab.
To be fair, perhaps in the top 10 meals I've ever had....

Now I know...from a review..

"Regulars will be pleased to learn that the signature sand-crab lasagne topped with abalone cream sauce and tempura soft-shell crab (if you know, you know) remains on Koi’s menu."

Janna Hrastovec,
The Weekend Edition Gold Coast, 2020.

Yes, very very good indeed.....
