That marinade does sound very Filipino. They also often use 7 Up as a sauce base in order to assuage their love a sweet things.

I've taken a piece of salmon fillet out of the freezer, trying to decide how to cook it. May just flip it onto the braai with some veggies (for SWMBO, left to my own devices I'd never eat veggies.)

I've just done a quick scan through the 'On Offer and reserve prices'!

A rather eye watering experience!

About 6 years ago, Checkers bought at the then Nederburg Auction and sold what they bought by e-mail order, with free delivery to your local store.
I bought a Nederburg Special Bin Cab Sav for about R320. At the time a normal Nederburg Cab Sav was about R65 a bottle.
The Auction one was nicer, but definitely well up the scale of diminishing return.

BBQ spare ribs on braai today.

I should probably be am deeply ashamed of myself but yesterday evening I gave way to a craving and had KFC. It was somewhat disappointing and it may be another 2 years before I repeat the error.

Cape, I made the same mistake once. KFC and Ronald Mac have given me an aversion to fast "food". I confess, though, I did once enjoy an Arbie's sandwich. Tucson, 1980, I think.

Oh, and while I remember, tonight's tea is a rolled pork loin joint which I'll roll in cracked black pepper, then roast with some butternut squash, JRs and steamed dwarf beans.

A light sprinkling of Mac and a teeny weeny bit o' light soy sauce atop a Smokie; and heaven has entered me!

Sheer delight!!!

I appeared in a film about smokies. A student from Abertay Uni was making a documentary and asked if he could film us having lunch in an inn in Inverkeilor. We said he could go ahead, and he duly did. That inn is famous for its smokies, but ironically enough none of us was eating them that day. My local fishmonger gets his smokies from Spinks in Arbroath. Delish.

There used to be a shop in Fleetwood where you could send kippers by post, think it’s closed now, but you can get them from here
