Re: Wot's for Tea, Ma?
Haven't yet tried soft-shelled crab; just looks a bit spidery to me, yet when I used to work in Hawai`i it was available everywhere.
We're now sick of leftover pork, so MrsP has bought a couple of nice filleted haddock. Flour, egg, panko, pan. If she's not looking, I'll sneak some beef dripping into the pan. I'll also make some tartare sauce and serve up with a few chips and some peas.

Do you use capers for your tartare sauce recipe?
Some suggest dill pickles, but I believe that capers are needed for pukka tartare.

I use both. Pickled gherkins (Ikea) and wee capers from wherever. Mayo from a jar, lazy git. If I'm in a posh mood, we have some pricey Italian giant capers, but as it's just fish'n'chips they'll stay in the jar.

Re: Wot's for Tea, Ma?
Went here last night
Very nice prawns.
Had to go easy on the booze as I was driving
The traffic around there is terrifying
Now at home winding down.

SWMBO has gone for coffee/shopping with a friend, so tonight will be whatever she brings in from M&S. I hope it's pizza; I like their pizzas.
Made a damn fine broccoli and pea soup today with chicken stock I made yesterday. We'll have a bowl, but split the rest into portions to freeze for the granddottir who loves her soup. Her mum can deal with the resulting nappies.

Re: Wot's for Tea, Ma?
Today I made this: Quick asparagus and yoghurt tart
although without the pastry shell, and with a couple of slices of bacon chopped, so more of a baked omelet than a tart.
I used a little grated lemon rind but would not do so again, felt it was an unnecessary flavour in an already tasty dish.

Salt'n'pepper picanha of beef tonight. We have too much milk in the fridge, so I'll do a tray of Yorkshire puddings, and make a rice pudding for afters. Sorted.

Chickpea and sun dried tomato casserole is cooking in the solar oven which has reached 150C.
It will be served with boiled new potatoes.
