Apart from the lobsters, that was our dinner in Canada last Sunday Fox3. One of my nephews asked if one could buy thick slabs of 'proper' steak in England. 'Yes, but not at these prices' I replied. :(

Crumpets are more properly called "Pikelets" where I come from. Only those of a more southerly location call them crumpets. Crumpets wear skirts.

Two different things in these parts Mr B. Pikelets are thinner for a start. Then there's oatcakes.....

Dinner tonight is cold collation Mediterranean stylee with home grown veg and fruit to follow.

Decided to have a good Pizza from a local Pizza shop that makes some of the best Pizza out.
Haven't had one for ages and glad to say it didn't disappoint and the owner was as friendly as ever.

Went for a long walk and finally flaked out at Sam's Bar which has been rebranded Major's Bar and Grill, still exactly the same inside, and the till slips still say Sam's.

Feasted on a gorgeous steak salad, medium rare steak slices on top of lashings of mixed salad. No chips, which must be a bit of a plus healthwise. Free glass of generously iced tap-water.

Worth the modest price, even if have to starve for rest of week.

Thick slab of bacon due to be sliced into man size rashers shortly. Bit of lard in a cast iron skillet to fry the bacon, then a half dozen eggs fried in the bacon grease. All this to be assembled into a couple of large toasties for breakfast, along with assorted condiments.

Her Houndship is looking forward to helping me scoff them.

I am not sure what you are referring to but I do use regular water tap. I was pointing that it needs at least 7 or 8 peppers to get the necessary spiciness.

Will be dining tonight with an old friend in Oxford.

Pate de foie gras accompanied by trumpets, swan on a silver salver followed by a nutmeg syllabub. Or, more likely, 2 courses for £15 on the early bird deal at a nearby brasserie. :)

Indeed Alison but I have put away those things. Did philosophy in my first year at a Canadian uni. Several of us were somewhat confused and I was volunteered to talk to the prof, an English chap. 'Er, what's this philosophy all about. I don't understand' says I. 'Oh my dear, neither do I. Would you care for a small sherry?' was his response. Somehow, I scraped a B+ on the subject. :-?

We were able to sit out on a terrace in the early evening sunshine amidst the Oxford spires. Seabass tartare for starters followed by grilled hake for me and steak bearnaise for my companion. No trumpets but someone nearby was playing a harpsichord. :)

Tall Bird, where in Oxford?

Tuna pasta salad for lunch. Glass of red of course.

We really must try to get some bream out of this lagoon. We have all the kit. Loads of fish in there. If our gardening plans go well we could be self sufficient by the summer. How do you make scotch?

Some mystery meat from the freezer, will be mixed with whatever I can find in the fridge and presented to Wifey as "Today's Special".
Leftovers will receive some sauce and herbs and be served tomorrow as "Chef's Special".
And the days go by.

There used to be a pub near the town hall in Manchester where the landlord was called Phil.

He did something similar with food and put it on the menu boards outside as " Today's Special. Phil's Phuck Up"
