Henry was advertising model aircraft kits for a company, for which he was receiving commissions. I pointed out that this was not acceptable, especially as I was picking up the tab for the site in it's entirety. It was a very specific choice on my part not to include adverts on the site, so I could see no reason to allow him to do so. He was not happy with this and chose to depart.

Oh OK...thank you...I did not know...and fair enough too Alison!....I liked Henry, all he needed do was refrain from advertising model aircraft kits!...shame...anyway, it's how the cookie crumbles...

Excellent Burns Supper last night, once we caught the little bugger, not sure if I’m getting slower or it was a particularly quick one :((

In an unanticipated twist, it would appear that SWMBO was simply placing an order, not offering to cook. Well, it's in the oven, so we'll see how it turns out.....

Mme served up home-cured salmon, four days curing with fennel and orange gin. Sadly wasted on me, I'm not a friend of salmon. Now kippers, they are a meal fit for a king.......

Discussion over lunch as to whether we should go in for trying the art of smoking fish, meat, cheese, etc.

What's happened to the 'Origin' rules?

Had a nice piece of Brie today.

It was made in Denmark!

The local Co-op has it from Somerset. It is garbage. One of the best I've tasted is Le Rustique Brie. The health police will be after me,but I leave it out of the fridge for a week to let it mature.You can almost pour it on to the crackers. :-bd

We also get local variants of similar quality.

The worst was a local 'Wensleydale'. It was disgusting.

On the recent very hot day: home-made jellied consommé, with finely-cut chives, a dusting of white pepper, a few drops of lemon-juice, and some flakes of Maldon salt;
a small piece of plain sponge-cake soaking up cold milk and a little cream, with some sliced strawberries.
