Demonstrating the solar oven to our guests; chickpea and sundried tomato casserole cooking at 150 degrees Celsius. :-bd
I hope your make guest doesn't panic about that TS. What with the wx bein' hot n all.

Had a light dinner tonight - very small steak with lots of salad. No dressing no veggies no dessert. Apsara said that I'm getting a tad fat! 🙄

Asian women tend not to be fat, in fact many seem to be very slender.
Is this because of poor nutrition or controlled dietry?

Good nutrition and controlled dietary. A lot is cultural too.

Don't know about tea, but crawled out of my pit at 00:urty and loaded the breadmaker, then back to bed. Just resurfaced to a nice warm crusty crust with a drizzle of good quality EVOO, spinkle of salt, and mug of English Breakfast. Magic, magic, magic. And I wonder why I have problems with my weight.

Five p.m. and just returned from lunch. Don't know what everyone else had but mine was 1 Escalivada on Toast, 2 Black Pudding, and 3 Grilled Chicken covered with cheese gratinee. G&T's to drink followed by multiple coffees and something yellow and powerful from the Argentine, twice (at least). No room for tea, supper, or anything else except another coffee and one of Mrs OFSOs home made black chocolates and ginger.

Using up bits and pieces of various vegetables left in the fridge, because I hate throwing anything away. Making a vegetable bake with cheese. It was going to be a veggie lasagne but we've nearly run out of milk and I'm not going without my cup of tea in the morning.

Aaah, Pesce Spada in Italian, Fliegs. I try to find it at least once when we're in Garda.

In the Philippines I love shopping in the wet market for fish. Fresh 'malasugi' or swordfish is a wonderful thing. Favourite dish with it is kinilow. It costs about 3 quid a kg there!

Sproglette Junior cooked tonight: pork afritada. Yummy.

A bottle of Zonnebloem cab/sav with my steak tonight.

I really do prefer Merlot nowadays, why should my pallet change in my dotage?

Yesterday we were invited to lunch by friends across the border. The food was superb but the alcohol is worth noting. Started with champagne (pre-lunch snacks) then G&T with lobster (not my sort of thing, a first for me). With second course of gambas, scallops and rice a very dry and icy muscatel as drunk locally. A very old port with the cheese, and then a recent white wine with the pear tart. Followed by 100 year old Calvados liqueur in a 120 year old bottle, the Calvados distilled by our host's grandfather. We only ever have about 2mm in an almost empty espresso cup as it's far too precious. As the meal was spread over four and a half hours the alcohol had little discernable effect driving back over the mountain roads. Today I thought my stomach would be resting, but an unexpected invitation came to a very posh restaurant in Spain, where, however, the chef comes from Manchester and makes hidden, off-the-menu delights for his friends. Being invited by one of these friends we all had fish 'n chips with mushi peas followed by apple pie. Tomorrow liver at home.

Cooking for six in a kitchen I'm not familiar with, always a challenge.

Roast chicken, spuds roasted in goose fat, veggies, home made stuffing. Nearly ready, doesn't look or smell.at all bad!

I spent Wednesday in Melton Mowbray which is something of a gastronomic capital. Apart from the obvious pork pies I bought a load of bacon, couple of joints of pork, and visited a real old-fashioned family butcher with a wooden slab and sawdust on the floor. The type of place that the EU would like to ban.
