Chef has peeled fresh prawns for us for a risotto. All just for us. The hotel owner will be pissed off he always wants what the chef has done for us. Dunno about dinner haven't discussed it with him yet.

An aside, do the Royal family get a menu for dinner, get to discuss it with the chef or get whatever is thrown at them? On the aircraft the cabin supervisor had a list of preferred dishes for each one and they had a choice of about three.

Hotel owner and his 92 yr old mother have practically a whole dead goat and huge plate of chips between them. Don't think mother will even make a dent in it. To encourage her to eat he picks up a fist load of chips in his mit and chucks them onto her plate.

Impossible, the 92 yr old lady rushes up and down the village steps like a teenager. She does however like to play the little old lady and be held by the hand if you offer. She then walks slowly but as soon as she gets around the corner she is off like a shot.

A gammon and cauliflower stew-like concoction that SM found in a magazine, usually ok.

Just had moussaka, not one of his best. Not enough potato. Told him, he was not happy. He is suggesting meat balls for dinner. Not having meat twice in a day. Maybe a meze.

There is a family of Greeks here (8). Not from the island. They are all mega fat. The table is groaning under the weight of dead animals. All drinking beer from the bottle and cigarette ash going into the food. Not our normal clientele. Wonder if it is a scoff and run.

Lunch will be fish and chips Egyptian style; grilled fish marinaded in Egyptian herbs with proper homemade chips. Yummy

Not sure what chef is going to dream up for din dins while on siesta.

MrsP has me fettling lamb kofta with baked aubergine in yoghurt, cumin seeds and sumac. Green salad on the side with a lemon dressing.

I is a very cosmopolitan person. Having discovered a local source of black pudding tonights dinner stir-fried vegies and black pudding. Perhaps with a rasher or two of bacon.

Had some English strawberries last night, absolutely gorgeous, even helped make my Weetabix palatable this morning

Tonight was a classic "Club Sandwich".....odd I know at home, nit we just felt like one...

Emptied the wallet for a THICK chunk of ribeye steak for tonight. 'Twill be cut into two smaller THICK chunks of ribeye, chargrilled and served with Jersey Royal spuds, mushrooms and onions. Sauce TBD. A bottle of western cape pinotage demands attention and there are some raspberries for pud.

I had home made chicken and mushroom pie, accompanied by home grown Jersey Royal spuds, in Jersey.

Decided to revisit sourdough and have a bash. Made a starter, fed it daily, and last night I thought it was time to bake. Overnight proving worked, knocked it back this morning and put it in a banneton to rise. Looked good, smelled nice, but alas stuck to banneton. Baked it anyway to try the flavour, and I'll refresh the starter for another attempt in a week or so. We have coeliac houseguests just now, so at least I don't have to feed them the failed experiment.

Its Friday night,the ribs are almost cooked.Time to open the bar.Red or White hmmm ? Cheers.

Lunch today will be a fish dish cooked once a year by the taverna owner's wife. It is a traditional Pelopnese recipe which is really yummy.

We're having a side dish of whitebait this evening.
