Here in the land of Scot, a "solar oven" would be called a fridge.

Here in the SEQ a solar oven would be hopping into the car after a visit to the beach....burning hands on the steering wheel, and if it took your fancy, likely frying an egg on the dashboard...

But mercifully not during this beloved time of year,....it's 12c now at 21:00 local....19c inside....long pyjamas on...lovely.

Before we know it....it'll be back to 'El Scorchio'...

Sitting by the pond, wi' a gless o' Mac30 in hand. Barbie slowly warming its coals. Life is good,

Bliss.

Venison; beef: ready for some deep heat treatment; and a loominum wrapped in herbs large salmon standing by for a light roasting. Fizzy white grapejuice in non-solar fridge ready to celebrate the birth of my Saudi godson's son. Yes, you read that right: Saudi godson's son. Long story, that one.

Life is good.

Will these challenge the deep fried Mars Bar?

I've been trying to imagine what these will taste like.

I can't. :(

Not for tea, but lunch. Bread, still warm from my bread making machine. Sandwich containing half a large avocado chopped up with two soft freshly boiled eggs, tablespoon of good Australian EVOO, salt and pepper. Soft boiled eggs and avocado make a fabulous sarnie filling.

.....like being back in Hong Kong....

Just off to make a pot of a standard Italian tomato sauce. Half will be frozen and half will be used with linguine, chilli and prawns for tonight's tea.

Given the increasing temperatures (i.e. double figures some days), the frozen portion may be used for a pizza, cooked on a pizza stone on the BBQ. I've been waiting to try that.

Rib eye steak with a green peppercorn cream sauce, roasted root vegetables, sauteed spinach.

(Initially with a 2002 Blackwood valley estates Cabernet Sauvignon. Whilst not 'off', it must have been on the verge of 'turning', a little more brown than dark red / purple, thought this might be the case, so another selected. A 2017 'I am George' Shiraz...)

Orange and poppy seed cake, with candied oranges & possibly served with with a little Chantilly cream for later.
