And agreed. Coming to the party implies we abide by the rules set by the hostess. As simple as that.

I agree with the preceding and will be sorry to see Caco leave the site. We will keep in touch privately anyway, at least I hope we will, but in my eyes at least he is a valuable contributor to this site.

Not rules OFSO, just common etiquette. It's normal etiquette to post a small excerpt of something that might be of interest and the URL for those who want to take it further. Not something that one has to scroll down through endlessly - page after page after page.
I PM'ed him all of three weeks ago saying that when quoting another members post, please just pick out the relevant section. He had quoted all six paragraphs of another post, just to say he agreed. He said at the time that he was finished with Ops-Normal and wouldn't be posting again. That lasted all of three days. He had changed his email address to a fictitious domain name, which then took me hours to fix up the error log it generated.
It's nothing to do with cost or storage space, it's quite simple being bloody polite and showing consideration for others.

I have just tried to post something which I wrote myself, and am restricted by the above limit. It's a two page document, about 1000 ww.Your message contains 6998 characters.
The maximum number of allowed characters is 2000.

Okay I'll change it to 10,000 characters as you asked nicely.

To quote Blaise Pascal
"I have made this longer than usual because I have not had time to make it shorter."Je n’ai fait celle-ci plus longue que parce que je n’ai pas eu le loisir de la faire plus courte.

Hydromet, I don't want to doubt you but I feel that no Frenchman is able to make a document short if he can make it longer.

Apparently more correctly attributed to Churchill - at least, that’s what it had in the front of JSP 101 when first issued on 1 Apr 64
