Most boring spectator sport

#1 Post by Pontius Navigator » Sun Mar 24, 2019 9:05 am

I suppose somebody loves watching some sport, especially when played by experts, or the broadcast media wouldn't pay big bucks for the rights.

However some must take the biscuit for most boring.

The only rule is it must be on TV.

My starter of 5

5 hour men's final at Wimbledon
5 day test match at Old Trafford, rain stopped okay
The London marathon especially after the 2nd hour until the Monday morning (yes some take that long)
50km road walk
Football

Football
Cricket
Cycling
Running
Swimming
Hockey
Tennis
Formula 1

+ others so boring I can't even think of.

A golf club has been advertising on Radio Lincs for more people to join as members. They've described the game as a "fast-moving sport". At the risk of upsetting our esteemed ^:)^ ^:)^ and totally wonderful ^:)^ ^:)^ Alison, I would not describe golf as 'fast-moving' unless there's a BFO beast approaching and you are its intended lunch!!

Add snooookrzzzzzz to that list.

The ball moves fast in golf as anyone who's been hit by one can attest

4m, we lunch at a golf club.

I was amazed at the speed of the self-propelled golf bag. In my youth carrying the clubs, dropping them, picking them up was a huge part of the exercise.

Motor racing...it's like watching the numbers go round on a petrol bowser.

Most boring - watching two disinterested performers getting it on at the Theatre Casa Rosso in Amsterdam's red light district many years ago.......and having a laugh when the lights went up to see my co-pilot and our two engineers also there....... :ymblushing:

C16, on stage?

Not a sport but a timber yard in Singapore. When the film started our Crew Chief and the other two chiefs were on the logs in front.

Ah yes PN - I've been to that timber yard when the copilot (as a participant) fell back through the flimsy wall into another space where a large Chinee was in mid congress. He was not best pleased shouting "I goin' to flucking kill you" and lurching towards the co. We fled, giggling, and made our escape. Oh jolly japes.

Darts and snooker are 100% participation sports as far as I'm concerned. Watching either on TV is purgatory to me. 8-|

Bog snorkelling leaves a lot to be desired as a spectator sport :D

And I guess watching the clock in A&E is piss poor participation sport.

Hope its nothing serious and you get well before you are seen.

Another vote for snooker, hands down the dullest; though I also stopped watching Formula One a very long time ago. Darts was enjoyable for Sid Wadell's extremely tongue-in-cheek commentary.
