G CPTN, thanks I thought it might just be that so may be overheated?

But did that really allow them to get such a huge lead?

Red Bull revealed that the tyres they took off Verstappen's car at his final stop were ‘covered with about 50 cuts’.
So, was Raiikonen's front wing failure at Maggotts and Becketts four laps from the end of the race the cause of all the drama at Silverstone on Sunday?

G CPTN, was that gravel rash too early to affect tyres by the end of the race?

Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, plus McLaren's Carlos Sainz Jnr, all suffered punctures in the final laps of the race. ... The circumstances of the race indicate a combination of high tyre wear plus debris on the track left by Kimi Raikkonen and others may have led to the failures, said Isola.

Pirelli say tyres failures caused by 'extremely long use' on demanding track.
the right-rear tyre failure that triggered Daniil Kvyat's Alpha Tauri to crash on lap 12 was "probably caused by a slow puncture"
This was the incident that prompted the safety car that led to the early pit stops.
Pirelli said the events of the race led to "the most challenging operating conditions for tyres".
"The second safety-car period prompted nearly all the teams to bring forward their planned pit stop and so carry out a particularly long final stint: around 40 laps, which is more than three-quarters the total race length on one of the most demanding tracks of the calendar.

What is interesting, though, is that they nearly got away with it! If the tyres had lasted just another couple of laps...

Colin Chapman's maxim for the perfect car design was that it should fall apart on the finish line.

In drag racing, they can wear out an engine in 440 yards!

Came into Silvertone this morning in his blue Mercedes Jeep (It's a very odd choice of company car, methinks).

Just watched the first Formula E race of the weekend from Templehof in Berlin. Fascinating and only 0.02 of a second between 1 and second at the end.

I could become a fan.

Max Gunther BMW first in Berlin followed Robin Frijnz Envision Virgin, Jean Eric Vergne in the Techeetah car in 3rd ...

Promising to be a more interesting race today - good to see Ricciardo in 5th and Hülkenberg in 3rd. Ferrari a bit higher this time as well. First corner............?

First corner might be fun. Bottas gave Hamilton space last weekend; will Lewis reciprocate? With Nico all over him?

Do you think that Ferrari will swap SV out before the end the season?
