It seems that his death may have been due to kidney failure - his last kidney transplant was from his wife in 2005.

I sincerely hope that his passing will be marked with, at the very least, a minute's silence at the Monaco Grand Pricks Procession of Boring Computer Controlled Vehicles on Sunday.
