...............He has just been charged with manslaughter, immigration, money laundering and trafficking. I think he can be guilty as part of the system.

'Collective Responsibility', we had a contentious murder case here in SA, a guy was guilty just because he was with some others who did the deed.

Jeezz...
'the luck of the draw' ...
"Her father, Pham Van Thin, who lives in a hut with a corrugated tin roof and earns around £300 per month, yesterday said he and his wife, Nguyen Thi Phong, had scraped together £30,000 to send their daughter to the West for a better life. ‘I’ve lost both my loved one and my money,’ he said."
HOW does one 'scrape together' such a lot, earning around 300?
I was wondering how and why young people looking smart would go into a container like that, but reading the story... (as it's in DWail)...
'Back in Vietnam, I thought Europe was pink. But it turns out it's black'.

As a wise man (and a clergyman) said: The man does not want to live well, we want to live better than the neighbour." So the man traffics humans, puts poisonous (well, in the long run) stuff in food to make it look better and preserve longer, and poisons the mind with yellow crap miscalled journalism.

The simple question is whether the driver knew what was in the trailer?

Like drug smuggling, knowing what was in the container defines liability.

Suggestions that the vehicle as one of three (with the other two successfully delivering their cargo), and these activities being hitherto unknown to the authorities (until this tragedy) gives a frightening aspect to the extent of smuggling humans into Britain - how long has it been going on and how many illegals have been delivered?

knowing what was in the container defines liability
but proving you didn't know is difficult to prove. I know it is supposed to work the other way,the prosecution proving you did, but in most cases it stretched credulity to the limit.

In this case, if they can track back his movements in previous journeys and demonstrate that the manifests were false. Ie, this manifest will have been for a particular quantity of a product, did it consist of a full load or part load? Were the goods near the doors with passengers up front? There wil! be so much documentary evidence, true or false, that they will discover a trail.

Would it be reasonable to assume that people trafficking through the ports is happening everyday of the week? If that is the case, the number of illegals in the UK must be beyond comprehension and the rate at which they are coming into the country must be bordering on 'invasion' levels. It's got to be stopped but I fear the liberal element in our society will shout and scream at any attempt to curb the flow and make this country a less desirable destination to the illegals.

The shores of the nation should be defended in the same manner as in 1940.

It'll all be ok after Brexit. The trucks will be parked up so long that no one will survive.

I posted the following in TOP. Be interesting to what people think:

It occurs to me that the conventional way of identifying the bodies will pose difficulties. Normally family would fly to the country.  In this case who pays?  Then the dead were all illegals.  How do you stop relatives, real or fake, becoming illegals themselves?

Why they would fly to the country? They can give pictures of the missing person and DNA samples in their homeland and compare with the bodies found.

I wasn't aware of that. Maybe a feeling of guilt on behalf of UK authorities or the relatives either are too shocked to make a break to the clandestine living or they will be under district supervision.
