Mrs Ex-A, there was a young WRAF ATC officer at Waddo, shortly after qualifying she would go home weekends. After two-three months her visits became fewer and she said that increasingly she found they had less and less in common. After a year or so she married OC Eng!
Yes well, I guess that put a spanner in the works.
Yes, we thought a nut job.

Yeah, so I am glad I (we) went. 15 out of a year group of 40 turned up and it was a joint event for classes of 89 / 90 & 09. So lots of people we didn't need to mingle with. 5 teachers turned up....2 were enthralled to talk to me 3 pretended I wasn't even there...Oh well

When in Sydney (which is not often!) I'm now invited to stay at the "Scots College" Principals residence, a 6 bedroom home on the grounds of the prestigious 'Scots College', dunno if I will ever take that up.

How is it that I went to school with some real idiots...only to learn 30 yrs down the track that they are now very high up members of the public service, holding positions that should a change of Government occur, they know they are safe...or indeed owners of multi million $ dollar companies that when we were in school didn't know how to hold a knife and fork...and couldn't spell or do simple maths.!!!

It was my 40 Year High School Reunion back at home this year. Sad statistic was that within three months of the event two of my ex-class mates who made the event had shuffled off this mortal coil, and no it wasn't the salmon mousse.

An ex class mate married one of my sisters and I am still close friends with a number of them. Even the idiots (of which I am undoubtedly one) seemed less idiotic and it was good to see most of them but hell it made me feel old.

I was thinking there was something about today that I should remember then, click, "Oh yes!", tis 54 years since I swapped the red and white chequered hat band for a black one at Hereford's College of Knowledge.

Went from a co-ed HS to an all male uni.

Have attended several reunions at both. Enjoyed same, HS more.

It struck me, at HS particularly, how well so many had done. Then I decided that those who had not done, didn't come.

Mostly, we marvel at how very different our HS experience was to today. Like most crumblies, we sincerely believe ours was better.

It seems Tom Brokaw, who is our age, agrees with us.
Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgment.
