I was led to believe, at 52, that I could take early retirement. This turned out to be a lie to keep me on a hook and carry on working. When I realised it was a lie, after confronting the HR 'manager', I decided to work towards getting them to fire me, with benefits, which I achieved very contentedly at 54, and then went to contracting, on my terms, not theirs, and working a few days a month. Two years ago I decided I'd had enough of that due to complete dumbing down of the products and markets I was working with so I quit. Another good move.

Now I wonder how I ever found time to work!

I never heard of male menopause. Do we in all honesty eventually lose our desire to shag, irrespective of the physical state of our danglies and/or dongs (crinkly or crumbly)? 😱

Thought it would be only due to brain cancer or a severe bash to the forehead.

ExSp33d may have the answer as I think he’s probably the oldest fella among us.

The whole pirate schtick has a certain attraction methinks, as G~man, Jimmy Buffet and Fliegenmong have intimated.

A good mate of mine has sold up and shipped out to Florida and sails the Caribbean and works as the engineer on this luxury yacht. He has lived a very interesting and adventurous life and the 50's haven't slowed him down a bit. He even looks like a bloody pirate...

Oh Probes, none of us men that post here are that bad... =)) ;)))

But, of course, technically, medically you are correct. I was thinking of, well, becoming a bit like this... more curmudgeonly, cantankerous and downright ornery...

I suspect that this good man would have been disdainful of my nonsense...

Francesco Volpi, Italian pilot who flew 236 operational missions during the war and notched up a record of almost 85 years at the controls – obituary
Francesco Volpi, who has died aged 105, was thought to be the world’s oldest active pilot, with an uninterrupted record of almost 85 years at the controls since gaining his licence in 1935.

Although restricted after turning 99 from flying solo, until last year he would celebrate each of his subsequent birthdays by taking to the skies above his native city of Trento in northern Italy.

Into his late nineties he flew at least once a month, for instance over the Dolomites to see the mountain goats. In his younger days he had thought nothing of taking his Piper Aztec from Trento to Libya for the day, to Elba for a swim, or to Paris for onion soup,

That’s scary ‘rash. If my flesh ever gets weak then it’s game over for me. But hasn’t there been stories of richish 90+ year old crumbly widowers shagging 22-25yo gold-diggers? I do recall reading somewhere yonks ago about a 24yo(?) chick complaining how her 93yo(?) new husband was inside her every chance he could get.

I have never had a younger woman or wife in my life... and I am not a gerontophile. My current 'missus' ( we have been together for 19 years) is only 2.4 months older than me, although to be fair to her, she is and looks about 15 years younger than me (she has been well behaved)... My previous ex to that was 11 years older than me.

Older women are wiser and therefore more trustworthy and may have something worth saying in the morning...

Thing is Gob once my dick ‘n me have karked it I’ll be too deaded to worry about this legacy stuff.

Me kid is his own man. He carries my genes but it not like he’s my clone or anything. The only legacy I might be remembered for is not forcing the landing gear up into the arses of mid-cabin pax on rough rainy crosswindy night landings.

Nor the insertion of nosewheel legs into the anuses (anae?) of check captains/GFs/mates in the jumpseat.

The earlier version of Glenn Campbel's 'Gentle on my mind' ws made rather late in his life.
This is a version from when he was in his prime.

New word of the day! :)

Might yell that out next time I jump from something instead of the name of a long dead Indian.
