Avian GPWS required... Murmuration crash...
Re: Avian GPWS required... Murmuration crash...
I was pax in a Bell 47 in Bougainville when it was attacked by a wedgetailed eagle. The pilot saw it coming and banked, catching the wedgie in the wash, which ruffled its feathers more than somewhat.

Talking of UFO's I have seen what at first looked like a tornado or rather a dark dust devil reaching up from the ground to about 800 feet. An amazing sight but it wasn't a meteorological phenomenon but a huge swarm of midge like insects spiraling up in a synchronized ballet. Nature is rather wonderful in so many ways...

Slasher - he went 'nav' very successfully.
TGG - it probably was "a meteorological phenomenon" - a nascent dust devil ie a rising thermal in which they hitched a ride.

Your point is well made. Maybe the insects did me a good turn as I avoided them and, by implication, the turbulence of the thermal.
