Nearly correct John Hill. The Samurai was Ose Koichi actually, but over to you.

Have the entire series in a boxed DVD set! :-bd

What aircraft did Biggles fly in his search for U-517?

Biggles used two "......." amphibians based at Kerguelen during his hunt for the U-517 in Biggles' Second Case.

No, not Grumman. However one could say there is a connection.

This may not be something that can be guessed as it was a fantasy type, a figment of W E Johns' imagination.

As I said there is a tenuous connection with Grumman as one of their aircraft had an alternative name the same a Biggles' plane.

Good guesses but this was a fantasy type which Johns called the Tarpon and it was an amphibian. A number of Grumman Avengers were delivered to the Fleet Air Arm and were named the Grumman Tarpon. The Avenger was somewhat different to the Tarpon aircraft described by W.E.Johns which was apparently total fantasy.

Nearly my time to hit the bunk so OH is declared.

OK, what does 'Floccinaucinihilipilification' mean? It is in The Concise Oxford Dictionary so it must be kosher. Latin scholars stand a chance.

Not giving a toss

Er, that's my answer, nor a comment...

It actually means 'not giving a straw for' as I recall, but time moves on

OH.
Ian, I can't see how anyone with your education, knowledge and experience can say this. As Hercule Poirot would say, look at those little grey cells.

Try again Sir.
