The battery in the Fiesta was disconnected by a switch which I made myself and *should* not have lost any power by internal discharge. Still, the speed with which the little 1.4 petrol sprang into life was only beaten by the speed at which the 1.5 diesel Mondeo fired up. Almost before I turned the key. And no discernable flat spotting of the rubberware after four months.

Lleida has a history of covid infections, in local hospitals, care homes, and organising festive occasions where people get infected. Frankly I'm not worried. Back to our usual restaurant for lunch today where my happiness was evident, even before my chorizo giant pizza arrived.

I walked 750kms during lockdown and lost 4kg. Time to put it back before Covid gets me.

Now that could explain my weight loss. After a month our dog had gained a kilo 10% of her body weight despite our neighbour walking her a hour a day. Back in April I cut her rations by 25% and doubled her daily walks myself.

Re: UP’s post # 1460 referring to the President of Catalonia I couldn’t help wondering why he/she has not tried to change their first name?

That’s how Covid-1984 is affecting me, I seem to have a better grasp of the non-essentials than the knowledge I had before lockdown.

Now I need a new passport photo and in the absence of barbers I look somewhat like a UK Plod identity image of an individual whom the police advise not to approach!

You must have a warped mind to think like that.

First thing I thought. 😄

Mrs OFSO had an hour with her German doctor, Dr Huber today. He kept open all through the lockdown. He said there was a complete shortage of protective equipment, and until a few weeks ago no tests available. Medicine he ordered from Germany for patients with other serious conditions was turned back at the border. He called the Spanish medical authorities to ask how he was supposed to treat people with major conditions: answer was "no idea".

Roses clinic (CAP) shut for the duration. Other than Dr H., there were no medical facilities available except in Figueras, where one public hospital stayed open.

Biggest problem for him was in how many different ways Covid-19 presented. He's now been able to have some patients tested, most - like us - show no antibodies*. No hopes of a vaccine being developed soon because of great differences in how it attacks. We went shopping in our local supermarket today, full of Dutch, Belgian and French foreigners some of whom (thinking of their standards of hygiene) probably carry the infection.. Did not hear any German being spoken. They are staying away. We won't go back: will shop inland where only locals go. We are not worried for our health but just being careful

*Spanish authorities just tested 60,000 people for Covid antibodies. In view of the massive infections in Spain they expected to find between 33% and 50% having antibodies. In fact, only 5% had them. Its becoming clear that Covid rarely causes enough antibodies to show up in a test.

To be pedantic, in German it is Dr (med) xxx and if you have another docorate in a different area, it's Dr Dr (med) xxx. Yes, common usage and nobody found it amusing. Well, the Germans didn't.

This mask business is a pain. Tried to get into the two main hotels in town for a coffee or coke this morning. One was locked up with coppers all over the place as a quarantine place the other would only serve us breakfast.

And quim, as we all know, is the Latin slang for the female pudendum!
Though you remain
Convinced
"To be alive
You must have somewhere
To go
Your destination remains
Elusive."
