Matt Damon isn't suffering because of it.
Matt Damon has described his eight-weeks of lockdown in Ireland as a “‘fairytale”.

The Oscar-winning star has become part of an Irish idyll after finding himself isolated with his family in bucolic Dalkey.

The Bourne franchise actor has adapted to life in an affluent seaside resort, and was even prepared for homeschooling, with teachers already hired for his children before lockdown began.

“This is one of the most beautiful places we've ever been. Obviously what's going on in the world is horrible, but I'm with my whole family, I've got my kids. There's trees and forests and woods and ocean and I can't think of any place you'd rather want to be in a two-kilometre radius .

The Good Will Hunting star praised not only the landscape of his lockdown home, but also the political response to the Covid-19 crisis in Ireland.

It is not really affecting me at all.As soon as I got a sniff of what was happening and what might happen I went out and got a few mega shops of meat and veg (Diabetic ) I portioned it all up.Blanched and vac packed the veg and prepared 2 freezer fulls of ready meals.I bought wine boxes till I could store no more.So here I am doing as I'm told, not really agreeing with what I'm told but I'm in the so called vulnerable group I've decided to behave my self because I would like to see my kids and grandkids a bit longer.

Rib, we, like you, planning ahead. I was caught shorter on toilet rolls with only down to war reserves when the panic started. Got replenished last week. Had just stocked the cellar and had a resupply since. Tea reserves should last two months too.

We are vulnerable too and just getting to grips with the supermarkets. Had a delivery from ASDA but first time and we got the booking process wrong. Fortunately got a Waitrose slot for Monday, stroke of luck.

My better half bumped into one of our neighbours yesterday afternoon whom she had not seen since the start of the lockdown. It appears that our neighbour's husband had caught this confounded lurgy. He is 43, lean and had no heath problems and went from well to very sick needing hospital care within a week. Anyway he was on the mend and released back home when he took another serious downwards turn and was rushed back to hospital to treat blood clots that were appearing all over his body. He is still recovering in hospital! Just yet another example of the many faces of this pernicious disease!

I believe that blood-clotting is one of the 'side-effects' of this virus.

The front page is indicative of the standard of the paper. It's bad even for a Murdoch rag.

Did I read that aspirin helped? Certainly has an effect on the blood so that might be the context I remember.

Hydromet, that mention of the 10 person rule reminds me of a quaint NZ 'tradition?' of a 10 second squirt.

It would be ideal. Line up at 2 metre intervals, up to the bar, 10 seconds squirt, rinse and repeat, next . . .

Sorry G-CPTN.

I couldn’t work out how to display a copy other than through that link.

Our local rag, for such it is, prides itself on puerile, juvenile front page headlines. “why I shoved a cracker up my clacker” is apparently regarded as the high point.

Regardless, after 53 days our pubs have re-opened, with various conditions including maximum numbers allowed in at any one time, patrons limited to two hours on the premises and alcohol must be served with a meal. Cue the pub crawl with significantly more chicken schnitzel than a body can or should be exposed to and two hourly street brawls as patrons roll from one bar to the next when times up.

I think I’m hoping for a second wave to come through......soon.

Entered a few retail premises by mineself today, first time out loose in 7 weeks.
I realised that, having not seen tv news/indoctrination, I wasn't familiar with how it was going in the local world.
I just used my brains and more or less kept clear of people, and sanitised/washed hands.
Observed marks painted on footpaths in shopping-centres, assume some industrious beggar has made them 2m apart.
I have an appointment tomorrow for my first haircut in ten weeks.
Around the world thoughts shall fly In the twinkling of an eye

Health minister announced yesterday morning that travel permits within green zones (no cases) are not required. By afternoon he came back and said sorry but they are. We are now into phase three of the lock-down-unlock. We still require a travel permit to go into town (40 kms away) but we can move around within the town limits when we get there. We go into phase four next Friday. The president himself will address the nation then as to what we can and can't do after that. Pound to a pinch of the smelly stuff no booze shops will open.

We are now up to full booze production. 70 lts of hooch on the go at any one time which is a rolling 16 ltrs a week. We have stopped distilling. We are making wine spritzers so pointless in taking out the water and inevitably some alcohol just to put water back.

Mrs 1DC had to go into town today, she said it was almost like a normal friday, lots of cars and people and not much social distancing. I can see the R number rising on the Humber before long.

1DC, I see from the Covid Tracker app the predicted number with CV has risen from 242k to 246k in a week. NE Lincs shows 0.7, NLincs 0.9, West Lindsey 1.2.

South Kesteven we have gone up to 0.5, our daughter in Rutland also up to 0.3.

We anticipated this with the extra freedom, we gave the crowds a chance to burst out on Wednesday and nipped to B&Q on Friday when things were much quieter. Marks and Spencer next doors had a long snaking queue so gave that a miss.
