To be pedantic, in German it is Dr (med) xxx and if you have another docorate in a different area, it's Dr Dr (med) xxx. Yes, common usage and nobody found it amusing. Well, the Germans didn't.
I recall an airline executive mentioning Germans loved to be called using their Dr title if they have one!

Have memories of when an animated Road Runner film was shown at the Ad Astra down the Gulf. At the end when the film drectors name of Fred Quimby was displayed everyone would stand up and shout his name. Dead popular he was.

Same in the RN - though it was "Good old Fred!!" No one knew why.

As far back as my Boys training, the call was 'Good Old Fred!'

No idea why he was so popular.

Might be why the big hairy nurse at the Butterworth medical centre in 1964 was called Fred. Our 'medical officer' one of the navs was required to visit Fred regularly for boxes of Fred's for the troops.

High season for tourists here and not one in sight. You can come here but your first two weeks will in in solitary quarantine living on thin pizzas slid under the door. Most camps are closed but some are trying to entice locals at not very discounted rates. The NRs can't afford to even fly to them and most non-NRs are in the business anyway. Just waiting to see which companies fold. There were some air charter companies working on a shoestring guess they will go. Our biggest air charter company who we work with has bought 16 brand new C208s in the last year at $2m a jet but they will survive. No idea what has happened to all the pilots.

Just checked, and a couple of the local hostelries have reopened. Screens, sanitiser and maximum occupancy in force, but after 4 months, I have the choice of going out for a pint. Investigations will ensue.

I have really lost track of regulations here. Will just do my own thing. We are in the middle of nowhere and life goes on. Headlines in local rag is that the local toilet paper industry is thriving. :-?

Daughter #1 19YO has it. X(
Boyfriend's housemates had it but he was at his parents' studying for finals and she was away visiting friends. BF got tested a week and a half ago and she was tested the next day.
She developed all the classic symptoms late last week. :ymsick: Test results took ten days to be returned, his positive, hers negative. :-?
No wonder the problem is so bad here. No real commitment to doing anything. Open, close ,open again. Test, don't test. No tracking. [-X
Utter failure. X(

I'll repeat: Spain did the largest test for antibody CV. 60,000 people. They anticipated as many as 50% would be positive. The result ? Under 5%.

My neighbour, a hospital health-care worker, had a moderate dose, was negative when tested.

Dr in Roses, friend of my wife, over the past months tested people with CV symptoms for active CV. Some tested positive, some negative, no relation to severity of symptoms. Had all tested later for antibodies, all negative.

*PP* Your daughter is young, I hope she recovers quite quickly and her symptoms are not too severe.

GG please do not post drivel that has no relevance to anything, and most probably of little interest to anyone. Thanks

Thanks Wodrick. ^:)^
She seems to be starting to get better. :-bd I hope that she doesn't have the long term effects that some are reporting.
Her younger sister is angry with me right now because I wouldn't let her hang out with school friends. I don't know whom they have been around and don't trust them. [-X
She used the excuse that she was young and if she did get it that her youth would protect her. She doesn't understand the potential for harm to me or her mother (who may have had it but can't be bothered to try to get an antibody test). ~X(
I tried to explain to her that the spike here could be leading to another shut-down but it doesn't sink in. X(

Thanks Karearea:
It's hard to remember that we thought we were bulletproof at that age, too.
If my parents had said the same thing, would I have listened?
