FED, did you ever have an H mask? For those of us with big conks the safety equippers would fit a copper wire over the bridge.

What's the zipper for or would it be indelicate to research?

That red mask would be useless against Covid19, as it has no filtration for the nostrils and no eye protection.

I read that you cannot acquire a viral infection through skin - it has to be ingested, inhaled or inspired, though contamination from hands to eyes via the mucous membranes is also possible.

Free virus aerosol particles (from a cough or exhaled by an infected person) in the surrounding air can enter mouth, nose or eyes.

Acquiring virus particles from a surface (such as handrails) have to be transferred to mouth, nose or eyes to infect the 'receiver'.

In the US we face a strike by Amazon workers protesting against lack of protective equipment and procedures. A strike could be devastating since many people are now depending on Amazon for essential supplies.

The irony here is that a corporation with a demonstrated ability to organise distribution and make a vast amount of money did not have the management acuity to see this problem coming. For a tiny fraction of their profits Amazon could have purchased or created a company to produce masks and other safety equipment for its workers and supplied surplus product to others through its own pre-existing distribution system. The MBA schools fail again.

Remember it was said undoing a zip was more painful than when you accidentally . . .

"What's the zipper for or would it be indelicate to research" - maybe the origin of 'Zip your lip'?

With the potential for quite extended power cuts I have just ordered a small camping stove and several gas containers, ok for torch batteries and compo. Did a Tesco op this morning, missus om only allowed access, she was able to buy a good rancge of everything that we need for the next week, no queues, no shortages, no problem.
It is still eerily quiet, seeing some over 70s briskly walking, but not many younger ones, perhaps they are just grateful for the opportunity to enjoy unlimited day time television.

Our internet TV site has a banner warning of imminent internet collapse. I'm not promoting the idea, just saying it's there.

Tesco tell me I can still only get 3 of a kind. No problem - no Tesco here.

Internal collapse unlikely since the system requires so little human intervention to operate. Sabotage quite possible. Under normal operation slowing theoretically possible. What games will the ISPs be playing? Rationing access? Will .gov remove none essential users to keep the comms. channel clear? Video, like your internet TV site are high bandwidth users and could be the first to go especially movies.

The internet may be slowed down in certain areas at peak times but it certainly won't "break' and bar sabotage of key global routers it will be around tomorrow, next week and next year!.

Never forget that the basic network protocols and topology were designed by DARPA to survive a global nuclear war!

My blood pressure was going up - but that was due to the bone questions being asked by the journos at the daily briefing. Stopped watching the daily briefing, and BP has returned to where it should be.
It's always my fault - SWMBO

Given up on the BBC's constant carping and fault finding and have moved to radio a much better option.
Any reason for power cuts. apart from nobody to run the system anything else that could stop it?

OFSO, do you have a vacant house to which you could move pronto? And will the Stasi allow you to shift all but the kitchen sink?
