So well spoken and en route to Cape Town... ;)))

Interesting film, with some good acting based on the reality...

I'm not sure which is more of a joy, the commentary or the scenes of the race itself:

Well, I am not sure we need "more" people like John McAfee, he being the ex-CEO of the eponymous software company marketing my anti-virus of choice, albeit now owned by Intel, these days, but 'Running With the Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee', currently being shown on Netflix is well worth a watch.

I used to view McAfee, born in the forest of Dean in the UK, gifted ex NASA software developer, drug addled genius, yogi, guru come gun-toting capitalist, fugitive, tax evader, and would be US presidential candidate as an anti-hero for our times but this documentary casts an altogether darker picture of the man, who it seems may have been responsible for the murder of his neighbour in Belize, as well as his own father. Whatever the case, John McAfee was clearly a fascinating man while still being as mad as a box of snakes, and a narcissistic sociopath whose life came to a shabby end. His life is a cautionary tale in this mad world of ours.

If John McAfee proves to much then one's soul can be refreshed by this old classic.

The Gathering Storm - 1974 (Richard Burton, Virginia McKenna, Robert Hardy) 1hr 15min.
Had never come across this film before. Richard Burton as Churchill - powerful.
Glorious music from Saint-Saëns Symphony No. 3

.....I agree, a heartwarming little tale but what the hell is an "Aircraft specialist first class"?? Don't tell me we are going down the US Army rank system. What's wrong with SAC?

Captaining a flying boat must have been equivalent to a Jumbo with the added difficulty of locating an unmarked runway - and no landings in darkness?

What happened if the flight arrived late?

I don't suppose we have any flying boat pilots remaining here?

Where have all the Sky Gods gone? Old flying boat Gods don't fade away, they simply sink, or take to drink! ;)))
