TGA, to post the best of Dave Allen, you would have to post his entire ouvre.

Back in the 60s he had his own live show on Australian television. Compulsory viewing for everyone - no exceptions.

Edit: It seems it was the '70s, but I'm sure he did some earlier. The skits are on Utube, but the commentary between him and his straight men (Bert Newton and/or Bruce Menzies) was even funnier, being unscripted. Even the commercials that he did live were funny, especially shaving his beard off to advertise Ronson shavers.
+1

I have always related to his humour and found his sketches about religion and his Catholic upbringing and the logical rejection thereof pretty much typical of my own experience.

What Cowboys Ate | Life during the 1800s Cattle Drives [14:59]
Take a step back in time as we take you back to the 1800's and the foods they ate while on the great American cattle drives.

Karearea; A most interesting photo there of the period Cowboys. It seems that none are toting six guns! :-?

Seems that Hollyood does indeed stretch the truth somewhat.

Originally broadcast in 1962, this story from the Radharc series explains how Aer Lingus planes are named after Irish missionaries. It also shows the mechanics of the aircraft and marvels at how they transport passengers to their destination. The blessing of the planes, a tradition since 1947, is also featured here.

Do they still hold the regular religious services with prayers for the safety of the aircraft and passengers?

I see there was an annual blessing of the planes as recently as 2016, per FB:

Slightly off the beaten track, but in the spirit of Karearea's interesting post, back in 1978, a good friend and I cycled from Johannesburg to Cape Town across the Karoo in the middle of summer (a foolish choice of season) to raise funds for a Catholic school for the deaf in Cape Town. En route we stopped off with the resident Catholic priest in Colesberg. The priest was a lovely, obviously lonely Irishman, who was delighted to have some company, lost as he was miles from his Celtic home, midst the arid barren South African Karoo, with nowt for company but sheep, rural black poverty and Calvinistic Catholic despising sheep farming Afrikaners. He told us that that he had been an airline pilot, flying Viscounts for Aer Lingus in the 60's and, had literally, had a Damascene moment on short final into Dublin one day, and had decided to throw it all up to become a priest. He said "I simply looked at my life and thought what good am I doing here?" I didn't dare ask how he felt now that he had ended up in the Karoo, and after thoroughly enjoying his hospitality we moved on the following day, and I never heard from or saw him again, but I often wonder about what happened to him, that lonely Irishman?

Edited to say one of my brothers was christened Padraig. No longer with us unfortunately.

Definitely the northern part of the Great Karoo, as you say Alison. As you know the Karoo had, and still has , Klein or Groot, a majesty to it. The other memorable feature of Colesberg was thar confounded hill, Magic Mountain, near the town. It stood out for miles when we were cycling but we never seemed to get any closer to the town. ;)))

^ Interesting video, TGA. Some fascinating geological, archeological, and historic sites.

1920's A Trip Across Canada [16:56]
This is a 1920's Tourism Film of a Trip across Canada Enhanced and Colourised By AI/Machine Learning with Sound added for Ambience.
Over 3,600 miles from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific took five days to cross, by Canadian Pacific Railway.
The original Film was most likely commissioned by Canadian Pacific Railway, which used clips of differing image quality and hence the mixed results with enhancement.

... added colour and sound to enhance the visual experience and create ambience.
