boac, If you got as far as the cabin, then your feet should be dry? Watch the vid, there are the odd bits of terra firma on the ‘Rock’,as you would know.
I had the privilege and the pleasure of driving all the way round it when based there and can attest to the brutal rugged charm of the place.
And when the unpronounceable volcano spouted off a decade ago we had to route east then north on the island which was a welcome diversion and allowed a paid aerial tour of that wonderful country.
However, thread drift alert, amazing how we’ve travelled so far from the back garden shed to the Land of Noggin the Nog?!

Missed that eruption, BM, as I had been 'disposed of' as I had reached the magic pumpkin age, but in the previous eruption we didn't have to do that, just routed a bit sarf on the way to CPH.
I do miss those lovely Icelandic 'dottirs'.

Here in India we are well into week two now.
I think the Injuns are doing quite well. From a pop. Of nearly 1,400,000,000 we have:
1834 cases.
41 deaths
And 148 have had the bug and recovered.
Not bad.
The PM has been on TV to state that the lockdown will NOT be extended beyond 14 April.

I think it would safe to bet on those figures changing significantly over the next couple of weeks.

Absolutely no change in life or routine here except we will try to go into town only every two weeks. No booze which is a bummer but the safari camp up river still has a stock which the managers own. They don't drink. They give us free drinks and we make a donation towards school fees as that is where the profit goes.

4ma.
Yes, it'd be a very safe bet that those figures will change in a fortnight.
Or even tomorrow, but still I'd say it's respectable as of now.
India discovered a bunch of Muslim people (173 of them, I think) hiding in a Mosque.
There were a good amount of Covid + amongst them, and literally thousands had contact with them.
They were arrested, but seem to have escaped again....
I think two things are protecting Indians, apart from the lockdown which ends on 14 April.
1. The heat. It's 32C here today, and getting hotter by the day.
2. The Country is literally filthy. The inhabitants are in possession of a well rounded, robust, immune system. There's germs everywhere, and ***** and piss everywhere else. The water contains who knows what, and the food keeps the average foreigner on the **** for a week.
Anyway, we'll see.....

Just had a local guide friend visit. He has been listening to the radio in Setswana of course. He says that we will need the pass to go into town. We think from the police but no one is sure. It is a one off for the period of the shut down. You also need masks in the car and sanitizer. That latter is all sold out in town.
